Well I got home from work and got a couple of hours truck time in . I can't believe how many plates they had welded over the inner and outer rocker panels instead of just replacing them .

Great build man! Ill be keeping an eye on this! I cant imagine how much of a pain it can be having to deal with shipping of parts... That would drive me crazy! Hahaha

After dropping the compressor off for Martin, I came back home driving rather briskly...... through every roundabout and other bendy bits, the truck felt a whole lot like a modern car, sure footed and going where I pointed it.
I am amazed at the transformation. This is a modification I would highly recommend to anyone with one of these trucks. Of course there is a lot more radical stuff you can do to the truck including C-Notching, airbags, dropped spindles etc. The sky is the limit, or the size of your bank balance. I think that with imported parts, it came to about £100.00 or $160.00 per corner to fit these Brothers Trucks parts. After all the driving and hooning, the suspension must have settled for now, so it now stands like this, unfortunately, I had not straightened the steering wheel up front for the photos. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps80c90085.jpg After Nicola and I came back from the shops, Martin came over and we went to go look at a 1990 Chevy Dayvan. I was interested in the steering column, as I want a replacement column shift steering for my truck, and Martin is looking for a decent 350/350 or 700R4 combo for his truck. He will be selling the 307 and gearbox he bought running out of a truck earlier this year. The rest of the Dayvan would be sold off as spares if we bought it for the asking price of £800.00 When we got there and looked it all over, the steering was locked and the ignition mullered, Martin also decided for once to be sensible and walk away as the peripheral costs of making this engine run, could end up being more than than he wanted to spend. HOWEVER, we ended up spending a great afternoon with Wayne the seller and some of his mates at his industrial unit. I did have to use the bathroom, and the whole bathroom was done just perfectly, and I could not resist taking this pic of the toilet seat cover....... very nice job on the floors and rocker. after seeing what all fell out of that old rocker i was thinking the floors would be really bad but it looks like they are in good shape.
consider using a spray-on truck bed liner on the floors as well as the underside. it works good as sound deadener and waterproofer. you probably knew about that stuff, just throwing it out there anyway. |

Today Rian and I were up and away from his place by 07.00 which is tame, but I only got to bed at 01.45 and probably to sleep by 02.00 then up by 05.30 to sort the dogs out and get ready to pick Rian up by 07.00 as he had already texted me by 06.00 to check if I was up......
Anyway, we were off to Maccess for all sorts of spares etc, Don posted a pic of the trolley earlier. Rian got a new battery for Nicola's MX5 and some paint primer, Schutz, cleaning agents and a 22 spanner to replace the one modded for the shock and spring replacement jobs. Next up we went to KMS to buy a little Sand Blasting Cabinet for small parts........ At the counter Rian realised that what he was about to buy would not serve our purpose very well, and promptly made an executive decision to buy a large cabinet on legs. Fortunately we were in my Ford Mondeo ST Estate........ which swallowed the box with ease. Lastly, we went over to Ron Fenton of STS Imports Ltd. He is in Great Leighs, Chelmsford, Essex. Ron has previously brought in parts for me on several occasions, and his service has been exemplary. The last time a new bumper I had imported got damaged in transit inside the container, and he immediately replaced it for me, ordering me a new one, and sold the damaged one to Grizz at a sensible rate. Today I collected a pair of inner fenders.... ORIGINAL, not reproduction, which I will use on my rebuild as a reference point for metal replacement on the cab etc. I also got my new cab insteps in stainless. Lastly, a brand new Radiator support to replace the rotten one my truck was fitted with. We spent about two hours with Ron. He has been bringing in a load of Ford Crown Victoria front ends for fitting to older trucks. Seems they are easy fit units, delivering disc brakes, steering etc at reasonable cost to UK builders. Ron also had for sale a slightly rare beast........ On the way back we stopped at McDonalds for a chicken wrap meal and a drink, the came to Rian's place. It still works out a lot cheaper using Ron at STS Imports than having the supplier sending them direct . If I rember correctly it would have cost about the same to send the radiator support directly . So by sending the lot in a container with Ron is quite a saving BUT IT STILL HURTS |
