Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I'm adding power brakes on my 68...i have a 68 booster, but if i use your bracket, would i need one an 88 and up booster?
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
No you do not HAVE TO use a '88-'98 booster. There are many, many, many compatible boosters most of which are listed in post #218 of this for sale thread. An even more expanded list of compatible boosters is included with every booster bracket.
If you are staying with a drum/drum braking system, then I would use the '68 booster and master. If you are upgrading to a disc/drum braking system, I would choose a different booster and master. Also you do not have to use the master that originally came on a given booster. You just need to use one that is compatible with both your braking system and the booster. The early boosters such as your '68 booster, have the long intermediate pushrod for a master with a deep bore master piston. The later model boosters use a short intermediate pushrod for the shallow bore master pistons. That is basically just a dimple in the back of the piston. Quote:

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Finally got to a computer only to notice that this won't fit column shift applications. I was wondering how the Lokar linkage would fit.
Thank you for the help though. |
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
This bracket will work with a column shift if you use a booster smaller than 10".

Any info on what would be the rest of the mods? How does it connect to brake pedal and any mods necessary on the steering column? And of course what year, brand, etc do I look for? I'm guessing I'll need a two or three bladder unit for 8". Once I get that figured out, I'll get my order placed, what's the total on the brackets and what's the shipping time to Kansas? Thanks!!! |
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
'67-'72 booster bracket is not going to work on your '60 Suburban. You are going to need the '60-'62 booster bracket with the hydraulic clutch in this thread.
http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=362375 In addition to those boosters listed in post #1 of each for sale thread, there is a listing elsewhere referenced in post #1, of compatible boosters. Also an expanded list comes with every booster bracket. There are 3 ways to extend the booster pushrod using the original pushrod to reach the pedal. You can cut and weld, cut and thread and use a coupling nut, or cut and use a sleeve and pin method. Quote:

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Your first post said that you have a 3 speed column shift. That typically means a manual trans. There are links to half of my for sale threads in my sig line. All you have to do is click on where it says HERE in blue after the item you wish to see. Here is the for sale thread for the '60-'62 booster bracket for use with an auto trans.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
Because I'm impulsive, I'll just paste it here. Needing a 67-72 brake booster bracket for my 71 Blazer. I have a new 8 or 9 inch 63-66 style brake booster. I was totally screwed over when I bought this booster. Guy way over charged me and the box didn't have half the materials he said it did. It's also a floor shift. Just looking at the raw metal bracket. What would be the cost to send to 29414? And also timeframe? I have PayPal and Venmo. Thank you

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
I'd like a 67-72 bracket in raw, do you have any ready to ship?
|
Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
No I do not have these sitting on a shelf waiting to ship. I have no time to build inventory. 95% of all orders are built as they are ordered and shipped. Right now I could build and ship your order on Wednesday providing the payment is received. I will send you a PM with ordering and payment info.

Re: Power Brake Booster Adapter Bracket
That is correct. Not all S10's came with dual diaphram boosters. The same with any other application. Depending on how long ago you purchased the bracket, the current list of compatible boosters has part numbers for some of the dual diaphram boosters.
