Finally got a break in the weather to pull the ‘79 out of hibernation and give her a bath.

Then a run down to the landing. There’s still plenty of ice and another swath of snow forecasted this weekend.

Great looking truck.

Reminds me of the '73 my dad used to have with a utility box on the back.

Thanks. I initially thought I would swap it to a flat bed, but after using it the service bed is awesome. I added the crane and a vice and use it more than I ever realized I would.

Did your dad use his truck for his trade or work out of it? I fun to hear stories these old trucks tell.

Thanks. It’s been back in the barn since. Got 6” of wet heavy snow shortly after. It’s finally melted, hoping for good this season.

He did work the '73 with the utility box.

He used to run a body shop and we lived off the beaten path so it was a mix of shop truck and carrying all the equipment to the woods to get firewood for the winter.

I actually remember falling off the side coming back from a load in the woods and the rear tire rolling over my shins but ended up being ok because of the mossy soil just pushed them into the dirt.

Yes, but not much. I'm pampering it until I catch up on some things, like exhaust and leaks. Exhaust is pretty patched up and the other patches lay under the truck when parked

I'm not sure if I ever showed this picture here. My helper, Dave, had an '87 K20 he bought new and mine was an '84. He started with me in '91 and I got out of the '84 by '93. So somewhere in there. Doing copper roofs, siding, fascia, soffit and copper gutter.

Your is the best. Not a classic, quite yet, but I built my '95 K3500 to be the ultimate work truck. Also to emulate the '71 K/20 I had with utility body and aluminum slots. I went all out. Started with a base trim Cheyenne, did a GM fabric seat cover, color change, gunmetal grey powder coated racks and other parts, Custom grey tonneau, on and on. I put it in the show field at the Carlisle Truck Show about 20 years ago, with linseed oiled Babcock wood ladders on top. It seemed no one got it. They didn't get why someone would enter a work truck. I guess a few got it, but that was generally how it was received. But I wasn't surprised

It's a great truck and glad you entered it at the show. Again, I appreciate the beautiful restoration work but they're a tool and should be used as such.

Nothing wrong with keeping them sharp, but they should work.

Love that GMT400 style!

Also, congratulations on the TOTM win. So fitting

That is sharp!

Love the long splash guards and the full vision aluminum top.

That looks like a great rig.

Let's see more of this one!
