Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
I like the mini rollup idea. I'll have to remember that for the future of my shop (or next one).
It's looking good, now get back to the Blazer !!! :D |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
so, do you wish you made it bigger yet? that's what most guys do I bet...
|
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
I think I forgot what you had planned for the blazer already.

Recap front to back: Electric fans / serp belt assembly / 355 crate motor / 87 Vette TPI 700r / 241 t-case / D60-14BFF / 4:56 gears / 4whl disc brakes / 37" MTR's / H2 alloy wheels, that's the drive train. Body will be orange w/a white top. Possibley a cowl hood. Full cage, PRP seats, spray in sound deadening. Ring any bells? ;) |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Ahhh, now I remember. Is that what you'll be driving to the big meet you mentioned in another thread??

Okay, officially back to being a blazer build now. :chevy:
THE STARTING POINT: |

Went around and took pics of everything but these pics are a fair representation the whole truck.
The pass rocker & the pass rear lower quarter are the only real 'bad' spots. Floor near the tranny cover seems minimal. May or may not repair the hood hinge area, have others I can use. |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Wow that's clean.......................................I'll trade ya!
|
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
All builds should start out like that, even the bed looks prestine around the wheelhouses
Gotta be your easiest body build yet! Throw a coat of orange on it and drive it to Tenn. |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Wow that thing is ready for paint! Looks good VT. Can't wait to see ya dig into it.

My son helped me remove the front clip last night, then it was dinner time and we never made it back out.
He's 11 and you shoulda seen his eyes light up when I mentioned "maybe we should build a go cart" for him! Was fun to hang with him in the new man space. Finished the plasma cart, so that's ready to go when I find the need for it. |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Knowing your skills, I bet it would be a sweet go cart!
|
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
you mean this thread is about a truck?
I like the plasma cart but I have a question, is houeskeeping at the local Holiday Inn mad that they are missing a cart??? Nice clean truck...you should make a Go Kart build thread! |

Did ya find any rust in the cowl area or vent boxes, lower A post |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Thought I might ought to stop in and look around.....you know see what you might be rollin' in when you get to my place. Orange and white yep sounds good to me.

:haha: cool isn't it? I found it in a corner of a warehouse I do service work for, it was all covered in dust, so I inquired about it. Got it for free and free is always good, rolls excellent too! |

Unless something big happens you'll see it in person come July. Ordered the POR today and pulled off the tub. |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Cool........Progress!
I ordered my PM Industries frame coating on Mon. Something tells me that you'll be done long before me though. :D |
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Always a good thing to work in your own shop... that tub amazes me!
|
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Looking forward to seeing it come July. I've even started looking at some Blazer parts and thinking I need to get one to cruise around in. I've read this thread 2 times so far and probably will a couple more times before meet time. Might need some advice when the build starts. Let's keep a fire built under this road trip/meet and eat in July thing and keep it front page news. Later.

Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
Can I get a better look at those stands you have the body on??
|
Re: Building a Blazer - vtblazer's Way
I bought a set of those metal saw horses a long time ago. I've always wondered if they'd support a tub. Pretty heavy made. Harbor Freight sells them.

J/K, they've got some pretty big number weight rating but I forget exactly what it is. They hold it fine and work great 'cause their adjustable height-wise but I wouldn't care to shove the tub sideways real hard. This set came from a tool & machinery contractors store, they carry all the high end name brands and this is the ONLY saw horse they'll sell. POR is here, insulation is here...so the next thing I need to do is seal this place up so it holds heat enough to lay on some frame paint. |
