Morning Bill, As mentioned elsewhere, to me it certainly is therapeutic so no chore. Drove the Blazer yesterday....... Took Sally up to the farm in it, then cooked her dinner, BBQ. Off to a Breakfast meet now in the Blazer. Summer is coming. And sooooooon enough I will be landing in Denver, Colorado and heading down to St Louis, and then up to Iowa, Illinois and Arkansas to name a few. Craig and I do hope to meet some or any guys on here, along the way. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Well, you all know there is a lot of randomness in my posts, usually no rhyme or reason.
Took the Blazer out for a nice drive yesterday, and took Sally along. She drives a modern daily, a Corsa, so typically well planted, secure suspension, her comment was “It is rather wafty the way it cruises like a ship” Made me chuckle. I do enjoy taking pics of this truck Sally seemed to be in on it all. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9vvjgl9w.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssikqbt2i.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psycyt0twq.jpg Wind was pumping...... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psopxqgtvp.jpg I do love this truck as well, differently, but just like Prozac, it makes me happy. I actually have spontaneous laughs. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psbzt3q4x5.jpg We ended up on the farm on the way home and Sally tried a selfie with both of us, so I had to photobomb it with my eternally present camera. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psn771vvcz.jpg Back home I rewarded her for putting up with me, and also for having told me a couple of times the last three weeks to get my finger out when summer comes and start working on my ‘66 C10 bodywork in order to restart all I let go of three years ago when Nicola left. Our divorce came through last week as well, after the courts had lost our paperwork previously. So my life can now get back on track, a different track, but a track nonetheless First BBQ of the year. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps8gtr4szh.jpg Steak and Sausage supplies by Thörsten from Germany, chicken and pointed peppers and coleslaw from Aldi. It was a good one. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfhc4su6u.jpg For desert, Sally made us bananas with chocolate buttons slipped into sliced gaps, wrapped in foil, put on the slow side of the fire, and after 15 minutes, served with squirt cream. Sublime. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psodt9ietq.jpg And HARLEY STARWALKER. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslyvo1g84.jpg Sunday report and photos to follow. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Well, second Sunday, every month, regardless of how many weeks in the month, the Kent Breakfast Meeting is held at the Woodman in IDE Hill, Sevenoaks.
All American cars, regardless of age or style is what it is about. Sometimes an odd non American slips in.... The pub is family owned, and they facilitate meetings for various car, bike and other clubs. Details below, because they are worth it. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmuqpkbp3.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvzozxbrh.jpg So I headed out at 08.15 in the Blazer and a mile from home I pulled over for the first photo. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psqgdoyvt1.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psagdlkkcz.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5ukcxhcj.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmr0ihuad.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxx2zzl19.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssgovuxs0.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps74vq5fca.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdjlucetw.jpg More to come. |

Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
One of the nice things about this meeting is that everyone talks, inside and out in the cold.
Some leave earlier as they have families, and other things to deal with. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pseql0l2vo.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps7dmftblc.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psizxdvthf.jpg I headed out by 11.30 as I wanted to pop in at friends Kevin and Theresa’s place, and also to see if Paul was working on his Mercedes Benz. This has been lowered, modded to an inch of its life. He and his son are building another one with a V8. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4r7k3hlp.jpg https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psaiittsgj.jpg Real gas stop today, spent £50.00 to get the tank just over 1/2 full. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmlkhqwky.jpg Gas prices for our various neighbors in America, Russia and Australia to compare with whatever you are paying. Price is pence per liter. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psjuzahytj.jpg Eventually got home and found that the wind that has been blowing at gale force today, had broken a pillar and thrown to fence panels down the road, Thankfully my company car was parked over the road, or else it could have had some damage. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psgal4onil.jpg So came to an end, a great weekend |

Thanks Bill, Yes, Sally is true salt of the earth. A few inside photos I missed out posting. Food gets brought out from the kitchen, names shouted by server, and then you collect your plate. Perfect, while we all stand around, drink bottomless coffee and chat. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuloo8obl.jpg Bathrooms are exemplary, clean works for me. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pssjxrxhdq.jpg A different part, it is a very large place. And of course, loads of parking outside. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psb48bmqui.jpg Well worth the visit. |

Friday after a stiff work week, I had Sally over for dinner.
She arrived with a gift. 2019 Road trip T-shirt. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psn6ty5mti.jpg Five states we should be hitting http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psxhytxk3t.jpg Random car park pic. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psoqztwhgo.jpg I also got a message from Big Mike, a guy I met years ago, offering me a couple of chairs to recommission. Of course I had to say yes..... Delivery scheduled for late Sunday. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfhlrjcck.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psaq8ktrkd.jpg Saturday Sally and I spent some time together and also had lunch, Turkish. £11.00 included two coffees. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psdb8tdexm.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psrwudqnpb.jpg Sunday was NSRA Swapmeet Looking forward to it. |

Plymouth, one of my personal WANT cars.
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslmfth3ql.jpg Kyle, being a 17 year old, is constantly growing, so food is paramount..... At least he looked after us too. Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Right.....
Now we get to the money shots. What I bought, and what I needed are not the same thing. First item, gas pedal. I would love to have a few cast in aluminium (Oklahoma anyone??) https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssjzxri2o.jpg My costliest crazy purchase of the day...... Seller wanted £50.00 I wanted it, so sent the “Pit Bull Terrier” back in with an offer of £30.00 Guess who won. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psq5ah3oku.jpg This will either be a drop down bench seat at my deck, or it may become a backseats to a bench on the deck. Now just need a Chevrolet badge to replace to one that was removed. Love the detail on this piece, picked it up and wanted it. Asked the vendor for a price........ “Take it, it’s yours” he replied. Free. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pssnbvayz2.jpg After cleaning. I plan to add something else to it, and fitting it to the Blazer. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psloewpnkk.jpg Late afternoon, that is 2.30pm the traders must have been cold and tired. More stuff I do not need. £3.00 bought these very cute espresso cups and four skull valve caps. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps9kebs3r9.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pst173b3fw.jpg A useful tool, keyhole saw for £1.00 http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psljzkqyc8.jpg A box of screwdrivers....... £5.00 I only wanted two of them. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslkqprepf.jpg Same seller..... £5.00 for this socket set, Would be rude not to buy them, unused, perfect for Sally’s shed as she has no tools, her sons usually bring tools when she needs stuff to be fixed. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psuckbqifi.jpg Door lock knobs for the Blazer £1.00 http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps5jityjoy.jpg Door mounted mirror, love these, have no use for it, but felt the need to just own it. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psnywird32.jpg Another Blazer item, stainless tip, from an Audi according to seller, part a bundle Craig negotiated for £4.00 http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmmhrrul2.jpg Same seller. Just coz I liked it, for my garage and part of my number plate collection. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pswuhydfsc.jpg So that concluded my day out with Craig and Kyle. Came home, Big Mike met us all and delivered the two chairs for the deck, we all chatted for another hour. Then I went over to Sally for a Roast Chicken dinner, with all the trimmings, including pigs in blankets and Yorkshire puddings. Knackered and back killing me..... Life is good. |

Also have given her the socket set to take home and put in her shed, in case I need to fix anything. |

Well, By now some of you know that the pause on the 66 can be officially lifted as my divorce is through. So pretty much no chance of it getting pulled into settlement as a valuable asset, and with my MoJo returning over the last 6 months or so, the time has come to get back to it. With Sally who I met 5 weeks ago, and some of you may have seen in the Blazer thread, already making typical woman noises indoors, and then, when I took her down to the garage, she took a couple of sneaky photos while I was in the loft packing stuff away, and sent one to me from her bed when she went home......... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psdrstqirj.jpg With the following comment...... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psninuurux.jpg I guess the time has come to start getting back to this job. My day job, admittedly is keeping me a lot busier than it may have a few years ago, but I also know that small steps forward are still progress. So I will just have to do it bit by bit like mate Ian Brown and some of the other guys have done. She seemed to enjoy the short drive in the Blazer too, and has been sending me rude automotive photos of barn finds and abandoned vehicles almost since day one. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psn771vvcz.jpg Meet the whip cracker. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pstnfzkvo2.jpg Good news ?? |

Don't get into the Blazer section often and only recently spotted your not-a-project. Pretty amazing what you've been able to do with it given what you have to work with often times. I really enjoyed seeing a slice of life on your side of the pond. Thanks for sharing.

We are often stopped in our tracks by lack of availability of spares. And many other reasons. So keeping going is worth it. Guess who is workong in the morning?? Of course I liked it. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pslj0surti.jpg Just had dinner with Sally. All good. Busy weekend ahead. |
Re: GRIZZ’s ‘79 - 2WD BLAZER Challenge over in London, England. “~It’s not a Project
Dinner date went well, we both fell asleep after dinner, on the sofa watching American Pickers (Sally’s choice) as we both had a ha d week, and she is working the whole weekend, part of a 12days on, 4 days off system.
I feel really honoured that she makes this kind of effort, just for a plate of food. It’s been a while, and of course I am in shorts or track bottoms.... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psmyavehiv.jpg So after we woke sat upright on the couch at silly-0-clock she went home and sent a nice pic of the moon over her home. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pslojyj0js.jpg Up early, then drove down to mate Darren’s shop Unit Engineering Unloaded Prozac, while his dad made us coffees, again amazed at the capacity of this little van. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0dxprm4x.jpg Typically, found Sh!t to load back into the van. M&S furniture that the unit next door threw out, new and in packaging but with minimal damage. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psye3egnwq.jpg Front passenger tyre seemed a bit low on air, checked it out...... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...pspukjnw2w.jpg Once back in the Medway, I popped into Just Tyres to get it replaced. Considering that other than the initial service items, I have not spent anything on the Berlingo in three years, the £42.00 for a new Chinese Ditchfinder tyre, fitted was a cheap price to pay. Service was fast, efficient including a 5 year warranty on the tyre, whatever that means. https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psxyzgvvix.jpg While unloading the Berlingo we heard a V8 roll in..... http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pszm8bgzja.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...pso0zyuuti.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psu2voamfx.jpg While there, I always love the random stuff that is being worked on. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psyvzvaaqs.jpg So Saturday produced some fun. |

Back home, cars swapped around, created havoc out on the street as the local füktards do well in excess of the posted 30mph, often nearer 70-80 mph.
They hate obstructions...... https://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...psoeslke93.jpg Ready for the Kent Breakfast Meeting tomorrow. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psylmiuojx.jpg Hopefully good weather and even more guys than usual in their American cars and trucks. Later guys. |
