Worked on the 8.1 a bit the past week. I sprayed wd-40 in the injectors several weeks ago and they've been soaking. I put new o-rings on the them installed them back in the intake.
The fuel rail was flushed and installed too
I cleaned the block with a wire brush, washed it, then wiped down with alcohol before putting that awesome GM blue on.
I'll pull the valve covers next week to clean and paint those and the brackets satin black.
Hope to have some updates on the paint job by then.

Derrick sent a few pics today. The old bed on my trailer ready to be hauled away and some of the work he did yesterday on the bed. He does his final painting in a paint booth, but he is getting most of the bodywork done at his home first.
He did tell me he hoped to get the bodywork finished this weekend since he had four days off. It's slowly taking shape.

Tremendous build! I wish I had before/ after pictures of my 2000 OBS Tahoe Z71. Looked nearly identical inside. I gutted it, installed new ACC Carpet, and wiped everything down with amonia and simple green, and also used an ozone machine on the inside. I still could not get rid of the cigarette smell when I was done.

Thank you! Derrick is hoping to get it to the paint booth this weekend, but with them calling for storms now I'm doubtful. With my cab lights off it has to be dry to drive anywhere.

I can relate to that. With my 77 having spent most of its life outdoors in the Pacific NW, I've had to replace all the window seals front to rear, and fix some nasty rust around the rear slider window. When I had the window out in the rear, I decided to replace it with a solid back glass since all the slider felts were dried out and I think that's what caused the rust in the first place. The water leaks invisibly through the middle of the window frame.

Derrick sent a few update pics today. He has the final bodywork done on the cab and if everything goes as planned I'll have paint tomorrow.

Well, he has the underseal on, but when he got to the paint felt like it was to beige. He's going back in the morning and double check on the tint and hopefully I'll have the cab painted tomorrow.

Thanks! I'm ready for the bed to get wrapped up so I can start working on it again. Waiting on paint has been a killer.

Terrick,

I stuck with painting it the color of my wife's Subaru, crystal white pearl. I'll have to ask Derrick about the brand he used if you'd like. I've not had a chance to see it in person yet, but hope I can Saturday if I can get away from my soon to be born grandson's baby shower. I'm supposed to keep the other ones entertained however. :ennyd:
