What a great camp rig! Love it! It's a shame the air was not in-dash.

60-66, you have some of the best trucks I have ever seen... Something about those clean Oem trucks that are better than any custom truck I believe. Do you still own all of them in this thread?

Yes I still have the ones posted here, and few you have not seen yet. I still have the one I bought 20 years ago. A 65 4x4 with 17,000 miles from Silver City NM.It now has 33,000 miles because it was too much fun to drive.

Is the white that covers the entire center of the door panel correct? From post #218

I have a '66 that looks like the 1st pic. The 2nd pic is from #218. It is a '64
What about the steering wheel. Were they different each year, 4,5 & 6?

I have a 66 that looks like this.

yes, that one is correct for '64 with both the raised area & recessed "ring" painted...'65 would have just the raised portion behind the window cranks & door handle painted....& '66 is just like yours with the "ring" outside the raised area painted....hope that makes sense

thanks, I have been looking for pics like those. My 66 is a parts truck. I'm going to put the 66 custom steering wheel on my son's 64 daily driver until I can find a 64.

Looks like an awesome find! I'd clean it up, make sure the electrical & mechanicals are in good shape, & drive it. :chevy:

The chalk marks were used by the people working the assembly line.

to let them know what engine, trans, special order parts, sequence numbers, inspectors marks..etc. This thread has a lot of good examples of them. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=488680

I assume your truck is Fremont built because those particular firewall marks only appear on truck built there. Apparently, a production line painter was in the habit of scribing what looks like a cursive capital D into the freshly sprayed paint. I'm guessing it's a "signature".

Friend of ours step-dad owned it since 1969. He quit driving it in 1980, probably due to blown head gasket ( which I hope is all it is). It sat in a garage with a concrete floor. He passed away last year, so it went up for sale and I bought it in Jan.
