Thanks Scott!
Yesterday I made a big push to get the brakes wrapped up, and made pretty good progress until the end. I'm not able to get the cotter pin in the spindle because the castle nut doesn't go in far enough. I tried tightening it down some, but I didn't want to take a chance on screwing up the bearings.

And then when I put the wheels on, it tightens the rotor against the hub to the point where the the rotor is pressed against the caliper to the point where the $%## wheel won't turn. I decided to call it a night at that point and go think about it.

Another thing that bugs me is the holes in the rotor are quite a bit larger than the lugs. Shouldn't they be snugger than this? The rotor is hub-centric, but I'm wondering if this will have too much play in it?

Had some friends look at the car that know these pretty well, and they are convinced the hub is not the right one for the spindle. So, another roadblock to overcome in a short period of time. Guess that means more time to spend on US Tom.

Ya those holes should be tighter on the studs, why are they having such a hard time getting the parts right?! You are not the first person to do this swap but with all the problems I would think you were! Hope it gets better for you soon!

Apparently this is a relatively new product for them and most people have either put them n drop spindles or 57 stock spindles. I think I was the lucky guy that is trying to put them on 60 stock spindles. I sent them some more pictures today and they are scratching their heads over it.

Still trying to figure out what's wrong with the brakes, have some new parts coming FEDEX. I have figured out a way to get these brakes on good enough to make it for a bit. It involves adding a couple of washers to move the brake caliper outboard about an 1/8 of an inch. I can only get half a cotter pin through the castle nut. Better than nothing, but not great.

I WILL HAVE THIS THING OUT FOR A DRIVE THIS WEEKEND, DAMMIT!

Re: 1960 Biscayne

What about a set of eBay disc on the standard spindle to get you by? I'd trust that more than some washers and half a pin! And you can sell them when you're done for close to what you buy them for. Just an idea. And thanks for the motivation, got my brakes all fixed over the weekend, it was a bad master cylinder out of the box. Stops on a dime now!

After thrashing for what seems forever, I got it to where it will make Good Guys. No where close to being done, but what the heck.

Loaded up and ready to go.

I had the landing for the inner bearing race machined so the race would go 1/4 deeper into the hub. This allowed the hub to go farther back on the spindle so the rotor fit between the pads and the cotter pin to work with the castle nut.

Thanks everyone!

Made it to Good Guys, nice day. Nice to make a milestone with this car. Now Tom is going to get some attention, while I tweak minor things on Lola.

Lola had a great time at Good Guys - got to stretch her legs out a bit and she ran just fine. Still have a bunch of little things to take care of, but no big deals.
