Re: show us your interior
Thanks guys. One thing that has been brought up before is to have a style or theme through out your build. I've always like the original agressive look of the shape of the truck.
With that in mind I went with an agressive interior. Buckets vs bench, black with stainless trim, racey floor shift vs column shift. I also live where there is no good interior shop nearby, so my next choice was to choose ideas that were unique, yet doable in my own shop. Thanks again, Jim |

Sorry I never answered you about the blue seat. I was going back over some posts looking for ideas (found several) and my seat was built by Eddie S. here in Tucson, and it was done with needle and thread, like the headliner in the green 53 Thanks for asking |
Re: show us your interior
Hope you get some replies because I have the same interest. Do you have a picture with seats and steering column in place you can post?:gmc2:

I tried sending 5 photos of my 1953 3100 Chevy Truck and they would mot go through so i am going to send them separately. I used ABS panels (door, ceiling and rear) from Rod Doors and they fit perfect. I made a mistake and bought a roof (ceiling) ABS panel from another source and it did not come close to fitting. He told me that I would have to modify it to fit. I said that I was not going to do that and I wanted to sent it back. At first the guy did mot want to take it back but he finally did. The ones from Rod Doors in CA fit like a charm. No trimming necessary. My upholstery guy covered the ABS with a new synthetic leather product and it looks fantastic. I attached the door panels with a new type of fastener. It is something like velcro but it is better. I have had zero problems with it coming loose.

Re: show us your interior
Hey gag1025,
that's a good lookin' interior! Is it a recent install? I know Rod Doors took down their web site but I read somewhere you you call in orders. Wondering if that was actually still the situation? Thanks. Chuck |

Re: show us your interior
Rod doors is still in business. I just went to their web site. http://www.roddoors.com/
BLAINE ROBERTS 1307 MANCHESTER RD. CHICO, CA 95926 Phone: 530-828-9426 M-F 10-4 PM PST Fax: 530/896-1518 bar@roddoors.com The web site is active as well. I just went through it and it works just fine. I am in NC. The seats are from a 2001 Chevy Silverado new series. The upholstery was done 2 years ago. I showed the truck last spring and summer. I took it to 7 shows and won 14 trophies. I will show it again the spring and summer but from that point on I will only show it 2-3 times. The rest of the time I will drive it. I will pick and choose when I will drive it but I will derive it more than I have up to that point. Life is too short not to enjoy it to the max. |
Re: show us your interior
Thanks for the follow up gag. Rod doors has a odd web site; when you click the link, including the one you provided, there is a statement saying they are out of business in 2009. However if you click the links at the bottom of that page it takes you to their "open" site with products etc.
Glad to find out I was wrong again.. That is a very good looking truck you have. I was looking at pictures thru some of your other posts. No doubt a show winner! Chuck |
Re: show us your interior
Thanks for the reply. Blaine told me that when he purchased the company and moved it from NC to CA he also bought the website but did not have the password to get into it to remove the information that said the following:
dear friends, thank you for your loyal support over the years. we just could not hold on long enough to get thru this rough stretch of road. We are out of business effective 11/04/2009. But just like you said you can click on the middle drawing of the guy and it will take you straight to the site. Any way he makes great products that actually fit without having to modify. Normally when I cut on things the results are not good. When we use after market reproduction parts for these old cars and trucks we have to modify, modify, modify so it is a blessing when we get something that actually fits perfect right out of the box. |

Added a speaker box/storage compartment behind seats this weekend, where the old gas tank used to sit. Also added some vinyl panels up under dash since we forgot to paint under there when it was empty (oops). Bolted down the drivers seat. Next step is to mock up a center console.

49. The dash is a 55 Chevy pickup, and the door panels have 55 Chevy car door chrome on them. The seat is a 59 Olds 4 door.
