still fighting my wiring problem. starting over with american auto wire. have to take my seat in to get redone and heater is done. now just to rewire everything---will it ever end lol.
|
Re: 61K10 build
Just think It'll be like having a new truck. Keep that thing garaged and it should last a Long time...
|
Re: 61K10 build
Randy--will outlast me for sure and will be in the garage. dropped my seat off to get recovered and got my american auto wire kit. you get everything with this kit, but for what you pay they could put the wires in the dash light sockets of course i have to mod the harness to my liking lol.

well got some more done---wiring was a pain, so went to american auto wire kit. of course i had to mod it as they do some things kinda weird. it's more for 64-66. got my gas tank back in (fun by yourself) t/f case shift linkage and pto shifter back in. steering column is back in (kinda) will finish tomorrow with luck. should be able to drive it out of the garage and hopefully back in lol!

|
Re: 61K10 build
Another milestone....glad to see it moving under its own power now....won't be long and it'll be driving down the road.
|
Re: 61K10 build
I sure hope so lol! It's been around 2 1/2 yrs working on it.
|
Re: 61K10 build
I like those dash knobs and especially the shifter knob! they look new, but you & I know they don't make 'em like that anymore.
|
Re: 61K10 build

Re: 61K10 build
That gun looks sweet in that truck! Careful...someone might break in just to try an get that thing. I'm a thinking I may get one for my gun rack in my truck. :chevy:
|
Re: 61K10 build
TJ--probably just hang my hats on the gun rack, as for the rifle ya you are right! the rifle is a 1957 Marlin 336 Texan (30-30) not something i want to loose.

Re: 61K10 build
Your truck is looking real good and it looks like you have done a great job on it .I have enjoyed reading your post and hope you will post more pictures when it is done.
I have just started on my 1962 K10 and will try and post some pictures when I get a chance .I have the body of and have found another cab . I have had to fix a rusted place on the frame right under the transfer case and I'm in the process of cleaning the rest of the frame so I can paint it. Thanks for posting your build on your truck. |
Re: 61K10 build
williamdale---thanks for the reply and checking out my build. start your own and post up some pics of your tk. will be looking forward for your build.
|
Re: 61K10 build
well guy's no pics but did get my brakes completely bled, and corn head grease in the knuckles to protect the surface sum what. I greased the knuckle bearings with wheel bearing grease and i am using regular axle u-joints like open knuckle ones. the amount miles this tk will see in 4wd won't be much.
|
Re: 61K10 build
What! After all that $ & blood and no 4wd. Hehe.. I don't blame you either, break somthing and you may never get it back together again. Plus here in the Tx grasslands we get about 5 days of bad road weather a year.
Oh, and two whole days of no pics.. I'm tellin ya there's something wrong bout that too. |

Mitch--some pics just for you!
sprayed bed liner on the tailgate and ft bed panel glove box in. waiting on my seat install before hanging my doors we do get some snow here at 2500' this was just one night snow fall. might get the ole girl out in the snow (NO mud lol) |
Re: 61K10 build
Yeah pictures.....nice progress!!!
Also....they make a plug and play light for the glovebox. I've installed them in both trucks. It plugs into the round hole in the top left corner and just plugs in the glovebox.....has a plunger on it so when the glovebox opens it lights up. Not a big deal....but has been nice when just going out to the truck at night and grabbing a wallet or stuff left in the glovebox. Also nice when driving and you don't want the dome light on.....my passengers have read maps by it. |
Re: 61K10 build
1963c-10----I know about the light and what i payed for the american auto wire kit they should of had one in the kit lol! I probably have one somewhere but finding it is a different story.
