Truck is ready for to take to the shop for exhaust, then it's cam break in time! Can't wait to get this on the road again.

Re-tubed the driveline. Just needed an extra inch. But it had to be done right...

Tomorrow it’s off to the exhaust shop.

Looking good. Kevin did my drive lines on my trucks. How long did you have to get?

I can't believe it's been almost a year since I posted an update.

We moved in September, and I've been working on house projects in all my spare time. Just before moving, I tried to get the cam broke in. Had a few bugs to work out, and didn't have time to do it then. So the truck went into storage. Got it out today, hoping to get back on track making it road worthy soon...

...life gets in the way of these projects some times. Glad to see you're back at it :)
I'm in the midst of a garage build, so the projects have pretty much come to a screeching halt ;)

Well I finally finished the cam break in. Had to switch back to a mechanical water pump, fix a fan relay issue, repair a burned temp gauge wire, and some frustrating hose and belt fitment issues. Seems to start, stop, and idle nicely. Nice lope to the idle :)

Now I have a ticking sound at the passenger head (valve adjustment hopefully), an oil leak, and the trans won’t go into gear now. Hmm.

So more punch list items, but making ssllooooww progress.

Here’s a preview of my custom “a/c” delete plates. I made them to imitate the vintage style of the heater delete plates…

Update:
After the cam break in, the 700r4 wouldn’t go into gear. It worked fine before I pulled the 305. So I figured it was something simple. Took it to the trans shop for a diagnosis. They called me today and apparently I smooshed something when I installed the engine. I’ve always said I know just enough about cars to get myself into trouble… Time for a rebuild, shift kit, and stall converter! Sad/happy…

Subscribed! Looks like a your making good progress. Interior is looking sharp. That’s too bad about the Trans though!

I’m curious to see these panels installed. They look great, is that an original heater delete panel beside them?

Right on. I'll post a pic when I get them installed. Yeah, that's an original heater delete plate.

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)

Well hello there Brian.

I’m hoping to have some updates soon, coincidentally.

Still at the trans shop since my last post. Supposedly it was finished a while ago but wasn’t shifting right so the shop is troubleshooting.

Here is my punch list once I get it back:

*Fix oil leak
*Valve tick pass side
*Fine tune timing/carb
*Change oil
*Alignment
A-arm clearance
A-arm touch up
Finish/install ac delete plates
Replace lamp harness
Reassemble fenders, grille, hood

Re: project "C10 Fever" (68 factory black 396 swb)

Well the shop is done with the truck. Turns out the valve "tick" was my rocker studs coming loose. Got that fixed. Should be getting the truck home next week so I can start working on getting the front panels installed.

Well, after a very very long time, I still haven’t done much. I did pull it out and hose it off. I installed my custom AC delete plates.

I’m actually going to remove my fawn interior and install new red vinyl. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time, just needed a little nudge so here we go….
