I'm sure grease couldn't hurt.
I know of one truck that the owner complained about a slight squeak on the bushing. I'm sure adding a grease zerk will prevent this. |

Re: Project: Shiro
Columns and shift-gate question for the C10 gurus; If I use a late model 5.3L/6L80E set up which only uses PRNDM (M for manual mode) will the shift-gate in a factory tilt match up? Were tilts available with the powerglide transmission (PRNDL) option? Seems like a perfect marriage between old and new school. With the 4L60E the shift-gates and the indicator (PRNOD21) never really jived. If this will work I plan to use a factory tilt with the powerglide shift indicator. Thoughts?

Re: Project: Shiro
There is no shift gate in the tilt, it's in the transmission.

One other thing I forgot to mention, depending on where you engine is located in your truck, you may need to order a longer shift rod from LOKAR. I had to use a long one on all three of my trucks and they are all positioned in the truck differently and have different transmissions. Here's a good video on how to set it up: |

Re: Project: Shiro
Buck,... the track width of your front wheels has bugged me ever since you put them on.
Are you sure they are 5.25" backspace? I just checked on AR's website and they only show a 4.95" BS on the 20x8.5 wheel. http://www.americanracing.com/wheels...8017/techsheet It won't be an issue with your narrowed Porterbuilt a-arms,... but I was trying to see why they stuck out as far as they did. Does your truck have the Modular CPP spindles on it? It appears the rear 20x9.5 wheels have a 5.84" BS,... that's why you were so close to your wheel tubs. |

Honestly, if I were made of money I'd have a set of Boyd Spectrums in 20x8.5 and 20x10 with black centers and machined (or maybe polished) lips...
Can anyone photoshop the center of this wheel black? |

I talked to Lokar this morning. The longer rod that Rob mentioned is part # 1832. It is 26" instead of the standard 21" that comes with the kit. Hope this helps. |

Congrats! Looks like the new garage is going to be roomy. So where is the wife going to park?

Re: Project: Shiro
I want a 3-car garage! That'll be nice, even if you have to give up a space for the wife, like I do.

Did a little grinding tonight, I think this one is close enough that the body man can smooth it the rest of the way. Just happy to have made some progress.

Another update, Hart_Rod and I went and picked up some sheet metal last weekend. It was a marathon ride to Atlanta and back but it was worth it. Here is a pic of what I like to call my rust free west coast truck repair kit.
