Re: My 52 GMC Build
Nothing really pic worthy, I got the box sides finished. Tomorrow it's fender time.

A bit off topic. After getting new tires for my '67 Jeep we went on an overnight trip 3.5hrs away and they work amazing.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
nice, hey if you want something pic worthy. I can send you photos of the inches of snow we got over the weekend (I could have thrown up). Glad to know there are drop tie rods, I'll look into those if I run into that issue.

Today I got the fenders finished up and all the panels loaded in my trailer, ready for prep and paint at my friends work.
A great way to finish cleaning the tar off the inside of the fenders is gas. I tried brake clean and de-greaser nothing seemed to touch it. Little bit of regular gas and a quick wipe done. Attachment 1458584 Attachment 1458585 Attachment 1458586 |

Beautiful weather so I got some painting done. Battery boxes, rear bumper went black inside clear out. The scraper wear bars got some paint, hope to put them on tomorrow. I also laid some long strand fiberglass to cover some bad spots in the cab. Here is a pic of how my rear driveshaft hoop turned out.

Henry it makes me feel much better knowing there is a hoop front and back, having the drive shaft above the floor and everything so tight out back.
Did some more painting up front and got the scraper wear angles on. I bolted on 3/16" angle under the scraper bars front, middle and rear. So when they wear out I just make some new ones. Attachment 1459497 |
Re: My 52 GMC Build

Well over the weekend a good friend of mine came over to help/do some body work. Even tho I'm not painting with color there are still some spots to fix. Door handles, cowl, A pillar. Then we are spraying epoxy primer like it has then scuffing everything. I am loading the truck on the trailer thurs and taking it over to my friends work where we are spraying it all Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Yesterday I picked up my alternator 130A. Had them put in a "W" wire for a tack signal to run the diesel tack I bought.
Also we are almost done with body work sprayed some epoxy primer on the patches. Tonight we scuff the new paint and its ready. Attachment 1461120 Attachment 1461121 |

Well a huge step forward the truck is painted :metal::metal:
Friday after working 8hr I loaded the truck and took it to my friend Joe's work to get the party started. We hung all the parts in the booth and clear sprayed. Then got the cab masked for interior paint. The plan was to use 1980 gmc charcoal gray but the mixer machine messed up and made this color I am calling burnt root beer. After 9hrs we called it a night. @2:00am Attachment 1463155 Attachment 1463156 Attachment 1463157 Attachment 1463158 |

Sat got to the shop at 9:00am to look at our work. Wow that is very semi gloss for flat clear. It turns out you have to mix the crap out of this stuff like home depo does when you buy paint. But we decided we like the contrast. The inside of the fenders got undercoating then clear coat.

Then onto the cab. Cab, hood and grill. They would be flat. The sun really shows the color of the interior. So Saturday was a 10hr day when we left it was all painted. Then Sunday we went to pick it up and bring it home.

So much for taking a brake on the truck lol
Today I pulled the compressors, tanks, shocks and rear tires to finish painting the frame. WOW that axle is a stubby monster. Guess I need to clean the rest of the axle. Attachment 1463653 Attachment 1463654 |
