We recently purchased a home and the estate has a 65 fleetside short wheelbase gmc custom with big back window that has been completely restored, frame off, Probably quite a few years ago. I was curious as to the value, as we have been given the option to purchase it as well and love the truck. The gentleman purchased it in 69 and odometer reads 29k. It this a factory ac/power steering/brake truck? I have not been able to find pictures of factory ac vs dealer installed vs aftermartket. Thank you for any and all help.

Not sure if i should post this here or start my own thread.

That is a gorgeous truck. The compressor is a York or Techumsa. Not the original Fridgidaire. BUT, the cab is small enough that it should cool well. You can always tint the windows to cool it down more.
Taking a stab at the price with those low miles, etc. It would probably go for 16-18k
I'll give you $5,000 for it. :) :) :) :)

Thank you for your insight. We have not bought it yet, they are asking right at the low end of your estimate. We love it and would plan to keep it forever but want to make sure we could get 16k for it if we had to have the money for any reason.

Re: Post your 60-66 craigslist finds

I see no problem at all at that rate. These trucks are moving up fairly steadily in price, so even if you were at level market value now, this price will likely seem a bargain in the near future. Having said that, the truck appears very nice, even if some small liberties were taken during restoration toward personal preference as opposed to being 100% factory correct. The dash top handle, wooden pieces, custom upholstery, and later model hubcaps are easily spotted as non-original type items.
If all existing "personal touches" are as easily reversed as these examples, then they should have no significant effect on value. Might even be a plus to some.

I just stumbled on this ad, a 4x4 '66 Wrecker.
Sounds rough but might have potential for the right person. It even has a snowplow!

That is a cool wrecker. I wonder if it was a k20 that they put a dually rear axle on, or if it’s a c30 that was converted to 4wd

That is a Holmes 480 twin line wrecker body. The booms separate and can do side pulls. That is what the legs are for. They keep the truck from being rolled over while doing side pulls. It also has an add on wheel lift...something that was not available back in the 60's. It would be a cool truck to restore if it was in better shape.
I started out with a 74 C30 and Holmes 440.

On another note I saw this cluster for sale on e-bay https://www.ebay.com/itm/263750303660?ul_noapp=true . I had one like this restored for my 63 c-10.

I was wondering what those were, now I know. Thanks a lot Ken!

It's not a thorough bred, original engine and frame have been switched out, but still, very interesting. Was wondering if the rear patio was part of the camper package or an owner mod. https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/...617280256.html

This type of camper was called a Chassis Mount. ,,, as oppose to a slide-in. Many of them came with a big slider at the back and a patio. Lots of poeple used them to back up to their favorite fishing hole.

Pretty tragic that someone filled in the side windows on this Suburban to make it a panel, but at least he kept the windows so someone could put it back to original. At $4850, this seems like a decent deal. :

Out of curiosity, I entered the numbers in the inflation calculator. The guy wants $50,000 for the truck.
calculate the value of $5,000 in 1965
Inflation Calculator

$5,000.00 in 1965 had the same buying power as $39,507.05 in 2018

Annual inflation over this period was about 3.98%

I'm thinking it's not a good parallel, because in 1965 $5000 could buy one like the above truck from a large selection. It wasn't in any way difficult to find an unmolested new truck. Just go down to your local chevy dealer.
