Well took some time after work...and the bar haha. Made a set of spacers for the camper to bring it level with the cab. Everything is just mocked and clamped up but I'll be disassembling it all then painting everything after all the fab work is done. The spacers are getting rivited to the camper with 1/4" aluminum rivets and sealed up with some silicone. The I can use normal camper shell clamps to hold the. Shell down and not drill any holes in the bed! Yes! But the shell Is Getting the same white as the cab to match. Painting the shell trim black again. And installing a. Sliding window into the truck. She's almost trail ready!

Met this guy in town who used to have his truck painted purple ha. Either way I always saw his truck tearing threw town but met him late one night at the local feeding hole for our trucks. Talked for a while and eventually exchanged number and told him I had some part for him. Pass on what I don't need for someone who did need. Em. And he needed a passenger fender badly. So I gave him one good. Straight fender 2 junk ones. 350 starter. Aircleaner and a bunch of other goodies he just about did a back flip. Either way he has a 63 shorbed. Cool truck. Snapped a quick shot of the two. I'll post a picture when this site let's me

Re: 1965 C20 fleet side longbed DD low budget build.

Yeup. It started out as a c20 truck. ( long bed 3/4 ton two wheel drive ) I switched the frame to a K series truck. Which stood for 4 wheel drive. Hence the K20. 20 was the classification for 3/4 ton. So goes from c10 (1/2 ton. C20 3/4. C30 1 ton ect and so on... )

I was thinking of another one when I led with my mouth. ther is another that was a k10 and they stuck the larger axles under it and called it a K20.
what does your Vin # say?
I stuck 3/4 axles under my K10 panel 20 years ago and it is still a K10

Re: 1965 C20 fleet side longbed DD low budget build.

I'll have to get back to you on the vin. It was from an original k series truck is what I know. Both axles are 3/4 ton 8 lug. The vin on my cab is a "C" series cab. That's how it's registered. The k20 I used the frame from had no vin tag on the cab. And everything was. To trashed to just use the body.

ron's a little picky about k trucks lol, but he knows them better than most do. just call it a 4x4.

I don't think that it is being picky, but more about being a little confused perhaps. Bare with me; I am a little older than most here. mI had my share of early fords and chev from the 20 and 30s( this was from the early 60s) 2drs were coaches and sedans were 4 doors, now everything is called a sedan and heaven help you if you correct some wet behind the ears pissant that their 2dr sedan is actually called a coach. people get their plumbing changed and want to be something else. does it really make them something else, or are they really the same person that they were born
here we have on the outside it is called a c20 build(title of the thread) and on the inside it is called a K20 build but it is still registered as a C20.
Bruce Jenner changed converted his plumbing; do you think of him as a man still , a woman or a whacko?
any way all I did was ask a question ;)
the truck looks fine.

Thanks ron. Yeah the tittle is c20 because that was the original intent of this build. I finished the truck for a while and drove it around making use of it as a work truck. I didn't intend to do a 4x4 build. But the spare (real k20) haha kindof fell into my belongings. I then changed directions and went with the 4x4. I never changed the title of the build because I don't know how to be frankly honest. Hah.

And yes kimble Iv been up at the rocky fire for 12 days. Got back few days ago from the strike team. The jerusalem fire just started after I got home. Wishing I was back on the fire line for that. How you been tho buddy?

Yeah the rocky fire was definitely a bad one. Our strike team made some good headway on the fire in the time we where up there. We arrived when it was at 8000. Acres. And left when it was just at 67,000. This was at the hwy 20 and 16 last Tuesday I think.

So I've been pondering with the idea if I wanted a new seat in the truck vs. Having the original re upholstered, so my first real day off in a while I decided to stroll the local wrecking yard for parts. Always a good time looking around. I got it in my head that if I found a nice seat I'll see about picking it up. So armed with a tape measure I started at one end and looked at every car truck suv. They had. Found a few candidates but nothing promising. I eventually found this Dimond in the rough in a 2001 ford pickup with a triton v8. Talked with the yard owner flashed one bill and was out there taking it out of the truck the next minute. Had to do a little bit of fabricating of brackets and drill a few holes to make her fit. Also a little bit of creative bending with my framing hammer. And she's in. I used about half a bottle of carpet odor and stain remover with a stiff bristle brush to get it to where it's at now. It will need a little bit of upholstery repair on the driver side but not enough to deter me from the purchase. It's a 60 40 split with a folding center console WITH CUP HOLDERS! ! and a compartment for some junk just behind the cup holders. It matches the interior and gives the truck a much better feel. There also kind of bucket ish seat shaped. Most importantly The girlfriend loves them. As do i
