Also another thing i would like to take this opportunity to thak you for your service to our beloved, country. Like you i served, in the 70's, in the U.S. Army. Later, Danny's 72 superchey

Danny,

Thanks for your support. We've got a lot of good folks doing a very difficult job and we will until the end. I've already tranferred to NM, but my family is still living in PCola until next spring. I don't plan on bringing more than one project out here when my family comes out (probably the Burb). I will store the other two in Pensacola with friends. Let me know if you are still interested. Take care.

I love seeing the burb! It is looking great.

So, it sounds like Donkey has been put on the back burner. I haven't been able to check out the site in awhile.

OK, I'm back in the game! :D I picked up a straight 3/4 ton frame from UNCLE and have started prepping in for all the components from my original frame. Also, my buddy started on the body work. He's almost got the firewall done and the bottom is ready to be linered. He should have that done by time I get the frame back together and then we'll mate the two together.

can you shoot some pics of the inside firewall area behind the glovebox, pls?

also, if shaving the stock gas filler, please do the same there as well if you can.

Here's a couple. I'll take some more later today.

Re: 1969 Burb build-up (Bags, 5.3/4L60E, repaint, interior....)

I'll explain the reason I'm asking:

I was just curious to see if you ground (shaved) the inside of the cab smooth. I've seen three different member's trucks where they patched the in-cab tank hole (non-Burbs) and left the inside flange in place. I thought it looked tacky. I've seen a couple of photos here on the forum where people left the flanges inside the cab for the heater cor/AC assembly, and I also thought that looked tacky. I was just curious if you "shaved" both inside and out. It looks like you did (and somehow I'm an idiot and forgot you went w/aftermarket fuel filler)

Re: 1969 Burb build-up (Bags, 5.3/4L60E, repaint, interior....)

Actually, I didn't shave the inside. I'm sure it looks a lot cleaner, but I figured with dynamat (or varient) on the inner firewall and the a/c hanging down, no one would know but me, :D. I filled each individual hole, some guys cut out the entire (or most) of the firewall and use one piece of metal to remove the holes. That's probably how they end up with a smooth firewall on the inside.

Good to see you back, Rob! I vote for taking the 'burb to NM mainly because I need more motivation for mine.

The crew cab looks great.

:), no worries. In my younger days, :o I would have taken the time to do that. Now that I realize know one will ever see that or care (except you,), I decided to skip "perfection" for the sake of time. Plus, I would like to drive it again before I retire, :D.

I've got everything setup so when I come home for Christmas I can put the chassis back together. Hopefully, the body will be ready to go back on the chassis and we can get it ready for paint. Manifolds arrived, thanks again.

Wow! That is going to be beautiful! Rob, I do not see how you do it. I wish I had 1/100th your talent! You are an inspiration. Nice work on the crew cab too. I stopped in tonight to take a look around. I have not been on here in a while. I have been hanging out over on hdforums.com since I bought my Harley Road King this past June. I just noticed that I appear in pink. I have been demoted from blue. Glad to see your great progress.

Glad to see you made it back Dean. Things have been slow since I moved out here to NM. Luckily I have a good friend who is a painter and has a nice shop that is filling in the slack from me being gone. I'm hoping to get the body back on the chassis during the holidays.....

 You and me both!! I'm burning the candle from both ends and sometimes don't know if I'm coming or going. I'm in Navy and got transferred to ABQ in August. My oldest daughter is a senior in high school and we chose not to make her move during her senior year, soooooo I'm geo-baching until school's out next spring. I've gotten to go home about once a month, so I'm trying to get the Suburban back together as best I can.

The fire is lit, however, 1350 miles is keeping it at a low flicker, :).

Thanks Jim. I didn't spend as much time on it as I've seen others do. I mainly wanted to fill the holes. I've seen others that look super slick when they add the missing piece on the passenger side and fill the gutter. I didn't do that because I'm just building a driver.............:D.

Got the rear suspension in and test fitting my ECE SS tank. No I just need to redo the brake lines for the discs (thanks FF.......:D) and add my fuel lines ............and then on to the front.
