Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
OK, time to smooth out the dash where the dash pad used to go.
I cut these out of a piece of steel exhaust pipe because they had the same curve as the dash. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4065/...4388e10456.jpg Tacked in place. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4037/...6e476dd81e.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4047/...0e690596_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/...806d1078_b.jpg Ground smooth. Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
I wanted to show you guys the gauge panel I designed and having Mark Renko at Tesla Machine Works mill for me. He also is the one that did the renderings. The panel has two inserts, the black one on the top and the smaller one on the bottom with the horizontal grooves in. This way I can paint them any color I like, or leave them aluminum. I haven't quite decided yet. You will see the last three pictures have black paint in the lower insert kind of like what is done with the finned valve covers. I'm not a big fan though. I kind of like it all aluminum with no color in grooves.
The center is going to be the speedo, then I have two dual needle air gauges, then fuel, volts, oil, and water temp. I'm going to run a tach over the column. If you want to have Mark do any work for you guys, his website is teslamachine.com. He is a great person to work with, and a car guy at that...highly recommended. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4118/...1a1e49e7_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4097/...e6b5f93b_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4101/...de8ce617_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4078/...a5462d37_b.jpg |
Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
I love that. I with you on the insert color. Aluminum.
If you tach is column mounted, will it not block the speedo in the middle? And last but not least, is he gonna make just one? |
Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
That is one great looking dash panel,i too like the stainless brakeline set up,looking good
|
Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
That panel is not the same size as the stock insert. If you go back a page or two, you will see how I'm going to mount this gauge panel in the center of the dash.

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5

Here are a couple pics of the truck in its current state. The last picture is for a little reference as to how low it is with yours truly.

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
Heres a little detail that those of you with Porterbuilt hood hinges can do. To clean up the cut slot you need to make for the hinges, I welded in 1/2 sides to the slot. Take a look...

Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
wow i just saw the guage cluster that is AWESOME
|
Re: Project: Bad Bagged '68.5
Man, that guage panel is killer! love the hood hinge idea too.
Your flaming river column looks a little shorter than normal giving you a little better angle to the rack, did you use the universal street rod column or what? I want to shorten mine up also for that reason & I want it a little closer to the dash. Do have a part no. & or measurement |
