A nice way to bump this back to the top. 55 Napco project $12000 which seems a bit steep to me but if the body is perfect it likely would be worth the price. The opinion is mine the truck is not!

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/...866547135.html

Up for sale is a rare 1955 Chevy NAPCO 4x4 1/2 ton shortbed pickup. Small back window. 4 speed manual transmission and Spicer model 23 divorced transfer case. Warn front locking hubs. No engine, radiator or tailgate. Comes with a clutch, flywheel, new front brake shoes, and new front wheel cylinders. Previous owner welded in new inner and outer cab corners, and looks like a quick paintjob (looks pretty good from 20 feet). I installed new tail lights and brackets, seat cover, new wood in the bed, gas cap and filler hoses, painted the bumpers and headlight bezels and cleaned it up. Cool truck to restore back to its glory days or throw in a small block and have a weekend warrior. Classic plate and title in hand. This is a pretty rare truck and fully restored could bring $60k or more. Serious inquiries only please. My cell coverage is pretty bad, so if I don't answer, leave a message and I will call you back asap. No texts, call and we can talk. Call Brent @ 4 2 5 6 9 8 5 O 2 9. Thank you.

Hello Guys,
I have a general question as it pertains to the Napco trucks. I recently traded my 69 Firebird Convertible (which I had traded my 72 Burb for) for a 1956 Chevy 3100 longbed Napco. The truck runs and drives pretty good. Drives down the road nice. It has new paint but the paint job was not done well in regards to prep/finish work. It would be fine as a driver or 10-20 footer but in my opinion the truck is such a solid desert truck and the body was in such good shape it would justify being repainted.

I am at a crossroads in regards to wondering if I should keep the truck and slowly upgrade and improve it quality wise in essence restore it, or consider selling it outright.

What are your guys feelings in regards to the market and strength value wise if I did move forward with improving the truck ?

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it very much.

Attached is a picture of the truck as it sits now. (If I keep it and start working on it I would like to find the original rims and style of tires as I dont care for the ones that are on it now).

Re: NAPCO Thread

The difference between a $200 paint job and a $2,000 paint job is about 10 feet. One looks good from 12 ft. The other looks good from 2 feet. I think that it looks good.
Original rims may be very hard to find.

Hi Danny,
Thanks very much for your feedback, I appreciate it. I am new to the Napco trucks so I am not even sure what time original wheels would be specs wise etc, I have only seen what is in photos and I like the tall and thin loom of the wheel and tire combo

There is a guy who bought a '50s suburban that he wanted to show. It had old tires, I believe 17 inch. He bought another NAPCO suburban just to get a good looking set of tires for his truck.

You've got a nice truck there, hope mine looks that good one day. The Vehicle Info Kit from GM, at this link, has the detail on what wheels would've come factory for your truck. 1957 was the first year for factory installed 4x4 setups in Chevy pickups. 6-bolt wheels will be easier to find. Mine is a 3/4 ton and I searched for years for the 19.5"x 5.25" wheels and finally found them. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf

Coker Tire also has a nice selection of period correct truck tires in the more common sizes too. https://www.cokertire.com/tires/styl...and-truck.html

Re: NAPCO Thread

Thank you for the additional info. I will check out the links. I guess I dont need original wheels as much as the original appearance and stance but that can be addressed later down the road. I look forward to learning much more and tinkering around with it.

Question for all you napco guys. My friend is offering me a 57 napco. It runs and drives. The only rust I can find is in the right side wheel wells and it's not that bad. It has a different dash and the radio hole has been enlarged a little. It looks like a may have blow by but l'm hoping that will clear out when it gets driven more. He's asking 8000 for it with some extra parts. Is that a fair price? I don't want to let it slip away. I need some options. I tried to upload pics but I'm not to bright with this stuff. Thanks

Welcome aboard. Good to see a member from my old hometown. It is hard to guess value without photos especially with some sort of dash conversion. But looking at the trucks in this thread it doesn't sound out of line price wise. It's just not a deal.
If you do a search for how to post photos you will find step by step instructions. Better than the ones I would be able to give.

59 Apache that was ran hard and put away wet. That's my opinion unlike the truck which is not mine. Not much information given but a lot of money wanted. At $12500 it will be around awhile. And how come there are no pictures of the passenger side?

I don't get the listings that don't show enough in pictures, give minimal info, yet they state "Serious inquiries only". I guess they figure asking for more info or for pictures of the side not shown are considered serious inquiries.

A friend pointed this one out to me. Very similar to the Chevrolet I almost bought back in 88 (if they hadn't cut a 12" by 18" hole in the dash for the hydraulic valves to control the snow plow). If I had known what they would be worth today I wouldn't have passed on it.

Extra rare 1950 Napco with hubcaps! $15000. Not mine but man I wish it was.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/c...110141320.html

Vintage 1950 Chevy NAPCO rare barn find. $15,000
Two stick four-wheel-drive with PTO winch 9 foot stepside long box. Eight lug axles. Needs restoring, one of a kind. Engine upgrade in 1957 to pressurized 235 six cylinder, runs strong. Although they did use the long style water pump so radiator bracket repair is needed have all the parts
Serious inquiries only if you know NAPCO trucks you know this one’s very rare.
Typical floorboard rust. I have many parts that go along with it.
Everything says NAPCO and it’s pre-power pack edition so it’s extremely rare. Two stick Transfer case with the third for the winch. I’ve seen very few conversions with an aftermarket winch on a NAPCO truck of this of era. The winch was purchased in Seattle with a tag that says Seattle Washington. Pretty cool old Truck my interest is turning a different direction right now so it’s up for sale.
A similar restored truck just sold at Mecums auction for 56,000 without the PTO winch. So this truck has great potential.

Man that is a heck of a deal in all honesty. Original Rust free 55-59 body panels are getting crazy hard to find even here in the Southwest, let alone being a napco.
