Daverod,Thanks yea forward progress means theres something. Heres the latest. Bed metal work Is close to being done minus the inside of tailgate and making the front of the bed match the contour of the cab. Here you go.

Re: MY build thread...
I just looked threw your build thread, wow nice work. Now I see why you were asking about my tailgate!!! lol!!!
|
Re: MY build thread...
Yea Fryco Im trying to smooth everything and reusing alot and scavanging alot also. I think Im going to end up using my old roll pan and just putting a patch in where the old tail lights are and run something different maybe the flush mount lights or phantom lights...Hey thanks for looking at the build.
|
Re: MY build thread...
My original idea was no tail gate at all. My friends talked me in this, stating the cops are not going to like see my huge 32 gallon fuel cell with batteries on either side. Even-though theres a cage around the fuel cell... I gave in to them, I'm such a sell-out. It does look a whole lot more finished with it, I will indulge my friends that much....

Re: MY build thread...
Yea now that the bed is getting close to being done I am getting excited and ready to see this thing on the frame again and I have to make room for the wifes car and a friends car in the shop so I have to hussle. Thanks Alan for the encouragement. I am going to try to get the front sheet metal hung this week and the bed on the truck. On top of all that I have to work at my mother in laws place doing some painting and construction to get her moved in by saterday or earlier...Wish me luck!

Re: MY build thread...
First off thanks for everyones comments. Now I am making the brackets to mount the valves for the rear ,need to find another union to weld into the bottom of the tank for drain valves and finish the rear. Its getting closer by the day. I can almost hear it rumble and smell the smoke from the tires when its done...AND even if I have a total air system failure I can still drive it to where I have to. A cigerette pack on its side will not fit under the front crossmember.

Also put the bed back on it for the first time in almost two years its in its final place where it will stay... Heres the pics! Comments welcome!! And before you say it the bed isnt shimmed where the wood should be so its lines are off...

Well no progress kinda stalled right now (weather) but I bought a new used 16 gallon fuel cell with a sending unit for $60. Now I need to get the other one out and install this one. And picked up some axle straps for it for $28 for 4.

Re: MY build thread...
When ever the guy I'm doing them for mounts his bags he can drill a few holes for them the drain. I still have to do that on mine. Just going to drill four holes near the corners to drain.
