Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
...gonna be a long but overdue post. Upside....lots of pics once I am done boring you to death with the details.
So, I finally got a fire lit under my arse and got some work done. Cranked out some serious hours over the past 3 weeks and got her to the point of being able to drive it...not done, just driveable to where it was safe and respectable to start putting some miles on to work out any bugs or issues that may arise before snow fall. Bear with me as the pics go along....I have some catching up to do. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psl9mxwlpz.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psr11ryuhy.jpg Dash completely torn down to the bare metal and started over due to me not being happy with the end result previously completed (yes this is why it's taking me so darn long!), and now in "patina" paint waiting for buddy to show up to finalize some details on it with the air brush. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pszdlnfo1f.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pslyz3vblo.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psmernmnyd.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps0omt4swc.jpg And wahlah...just like that airbrushing details done on dash. I am obviously cutting to the chase on alot of the process but I'm sure you get the idea. Just trying to take some of the long drawn out pain of it all out of the post...hahaaha http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psgtik7894.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pshuojep5a.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psgxho0hhm.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psujcu1mxb.jpg Seats are all bolted in one last time, SEM used on them and hoping the black will show through on the cracks to give the worn look I'm after....hoping it will work for me rather than against. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pspsytdfxl.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps2ckpummw.jpg Front of box and tailgate jams done... http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pseofzqwf4.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pstzeswbaw.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psj7tq1kbc.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pscgj1uzor.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps283qsaad.jpg Raptor liner in the bed...stuff goes on and looks spectacular in my honest opinion...will it last forever...more than likely not, but time will tell. Not expecting it to be bullet proof by any means. Word to the wise though...expect to use 1.5 kit minimum for a short box. That's what I used and I think that is a bare minimum in my books....Just FYI http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pssttlbjhd.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps7fslvp6b.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psesc5k6qd.jpg Box primary body work completed, Endura etch primer on bare steel spots, UPOL high build primer over that (3 coats), guide coat...and now sits for a while before I will get around to blocking it out to get rid of the heavy scratches. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psvanlsrlj.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psqvbgvcvw.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psjk9lsxhd.jpg Rear differential changed AGAIN.....long story but anyway, tried a few different combo's, found out that there are definitely some misguided information out there including the 14 bolt bible of what swaps to what and what measures what...Ended up with what I feel is the best combination of parts/differentials I had laying around and with minimal cost (not including frustration).. I used a SRW 14FF from a 1995 GM truck, swapped over the outer brake assemblies incuding backing plates etc from a 74 14FF SRW differential. Then had the SRW hubs machined down to accept the dually wheel center (bit smaller) and allow for a larger lip that the SRW hubs do not provide to give the proper "hub centric" center for the wheels. With what I had measured for my after market wheels I was good for clearance all the way down which eventually I was hoping to bag the truck in the future. This gave me a total WMS measurement of 66-5/8" wide total. Extra 2 plus inches per side from a stock dually D70 rear diff. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psxpvws3ad.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps0ggdo3dj.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps8gecb7ga.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...psnl9ijily.jpg http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...pszru88qjp.jpg ...and finally...when it all came together after working through the night Saturday till 4:30 am then back up again at 8:00am Sunday to bolt in the seat belts, swap the hood out, put the plates on...and a few other things...took it for it's first drive/show in 5 years or so. Put on 100 miles roughly with minimal issues. Ran like a champ...and was a REALLY good feeling to be able to do so. Put some fire in my step to finish it now. Needed that push at this point for sure... Anyways...enjoy, and hope to have more progress pics very soon. |
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
On the rearends. What's not right? Did u look or try a cab/chassis rear? Or a suburban rear? All suppose to work and tuck everything under stock fenders. I've got a 91R-30 crew dually that I'm putting semi wheels on and debating on which to use. I got a c/c rear at the pick n pull on half price day for $60.

Besides I have another CCSB build on the go (4x4), and my 68 4x4 burb that is getting a cummins/5spd/205 as well. Have to budget a bit. |
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Tucked away for most of the winter while I get some progress completed on its 4x4 cummins swap sibling. Had a few people interested in buying her and had some interesting offers, but not sure I'm there yet to be able to sell her. Have an NV4500 to go into it hopefully by early spring if all goes well.

Well, she is gone to a new home now....time for someone else to carry the project to the end, or to their vision. Was an awesome experience building it, and driving it for a few years....just time to focus on my 67-72 stuff now...change up things for a while.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Well figured I would keep this thread going as best I can,
Good friend of mine bought this truck and towed it 1200km out to me so we can change it up abit. Still working on getting pictures uploaded, but the main plan is to swap the powertrain out Bought a donor truck, 2005 2500hd GMC with a Duramax and ZF6 to swap in. The donor truck is one of my old customers. Truck is a 600whp truck in its current form; should be enough to get this ol girl motivated down the road! Anyways I'll work on getting pics up for the guys that follow this thread! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
very cool to see that this project is moving forward. sweet crew cab project
|
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Thanks for keeping this going Dallas. This thing will be even better with that drive train.
|
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
That power train will make that truck scoot!
|
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Any updates out of pure curiosity?
|
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Truck runs and moves under its own power. Need to build intake, and intercooler tubes. Hoping to drive it home next weekend. Meaning to post updates but never get on here. Have some pictures. Powertrain fit great. No frame cutting, no oil pan mods. Built a centre link and tranny crossmember. Rad and intercooler from the 2005 fit well in the squarebody core support.
Devillusion: don't know if you know, but I'm Dallas from Winnipeg/MBoffroad. Bought your 99 CCSB 2500 a couple years ago haha. It's nice working on one of your trucks again! |

Sweet, thanks Dallas.....lol, how ya been? Ever find that 99CCSB after it was stolen? I can't wait to see it. Seriously happy someone is carrying the torch with it. |
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Well
I guess pjotobucket has reached the greedy train and is now charging through the arse for third party sharing...no more pics cause I’m not paying $400/year for the service. Sorry guys/gals. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
greedy bastards. Most of us have found alternate photo hosting options. Myself, I am using google drive. There are also some remedies so the PB images will view correctly on your computer.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
If you don't post to multiple forums, it's fairly cheap to become a member here and get the ability to upload images to your posts.
|
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
Ya just don’t feel like redoing the whole build thread. This is the only forum I tend to anymore.
|
Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude
If you store your pictures on your computer, you can attach up to 5 images to a post using the "Go Advanced" button, then click on the "Manage Attachments" button to upload photos to you thread. At least you can post new pictures of the progress as you go from here...
