I was reading on the Kilby website that an unloader is not needed. Seems that I am finding as many people using them as are not... |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Still kinda butt hurt about the seat covers, not wanting to buy another cover right now, i decided to cut down one of the old bench seats i have and see what it looked like. The worst I would be out would be an old seat frame.
Got it cut down, welded up, the foam cut and the cover put on. I pushed it to the one side so it would be like having access to get to the back. Im not sure if I like the 3/4 seat in the second row. Anyway, here is how it looks. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ps36ef4a9d.jpg |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
That looks fantastic!!!

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
The pattern is a great match.
|
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
I think it looks pretty good, you were busy chopping down the seat and foam and throwing that cover on!
That would of taken most of us a weekend to get it done... hmm, maybe I am taking too many beer breaks.... |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Worst case, you can put it in the back as the third row seat.

Looks great! My 2nd row didn't have arm rests. That cover looks great with the blue you painted your burb.

I ordered some fittings to get the air supply line run back the other day but they havent made it yet. I found a check valve to use from a pneumatics company that is supposed to crack open at 5 psi and is rated to 5000 psi, I am going to put it in line just before the tank, and it came in yesterday. Think I am going to go and get a leader hose made up today. |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
I think the hand rails will make the seat look wider.

I just think the perception will change of the backseat with them on.

My 72 had them on both the 2nd and 3rd row. My 69 is a low option ride.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Awesome build, learned a ton reading through the thread. Can you post any pics or info on the garage paint spraying setup? What brand/type of paint was used?

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Got the air fittings in I ordered and picked up some more at the hydraulic shop while getting the leader hose made up. Got home an got the coalescing filter bracket made up and mounted and got all the fittings installed in the tank. Once I get the truck back on jack stands and ill finish up running the hose back to the tank.
Its about time to get my accuair ordered and I will probably order up my air conditiong soon too. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3715e163.jpg |

In this picture, isnt your alternator going to squeel like a pig when there is a load on it? There doesnt appear to be enough belt on that pulley. Amazing build sir. |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Looking good. Is your moisture trap a desiccant type?

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Got my battery mounted, the battery cable run, and I got the rest of the fuel lines and fuel pump wiring run.
http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5c29a0df.jpg Also got my March ac bracket, but they didnt send the screws for the idler cover. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6daf2d6a.jpg I got a can of gas and decided to crank it. Here is a video I took. Im going to change the starter to one of those high torque mini starters. I have a holley black fuel pump and I dont know if I can handle the noise it makes. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...pscdb584d0.jpg |

Placed an order today at Laidbackrecreations for my gauges and my vintage air. Ordered the Dakota Digital VHX, the gps module, the light module, the air pressure module and the light controller, and I got the polished compressor with the vintage air. Hopefully UPS is getting the shipping thing fixed after the holidays. |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Thank for the business Brett..

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
What do the light module, and the light control module each do?

Here is the GPS module http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd837.htm I got the module that will display the air pressure from the tank on the dash http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd753.htm The shift indicator module that displays the shifter position on the dash. The shift indicator is also a neutral safety switch and reverse light switch. http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...prod/prd60.htm |
Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Thanks for the links---they build first class stuff! At SEMA in '12 I asked Dakota if they'd considered a module to control a remote radio head. I had a project I really didn't want to add a radio display in the dash on. I thought it would be great with a blue tooth receiver for an iPhone, etc. Unfortunately, that wasn't an application they were interested in!

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
Painless has a moudule that does the same as the dakota digital retained power that I was lookng at but it was about twice te price. I think it will be nice to have alot of th features the newer cars.

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
I got my gauges and all the modules I have wired up. I cranked up the engine and am really happy with them, the GPS is even getting a signal in the garage. The only thing that disappoints me with them is they will not control electric fans without another module. I still have to mount the sender for the gear selector.
The retained power module, the dash bezel, and a couple of things from vintage air I ordered are back ordered. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ps98d275d9.jpg I had to temporarily mount the evaporator to figure out where I could run wire and mount the modules. I also added another fuse box for the gauges, modules and accuair. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...ps34076b1b.jpg I got the accuair mounted up and wired up. I still need to run the wire for the ride height sensors and mount them. http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/...psf3772bbd.jpg This morning I connected the air lines to the valve block and put some air in the tank to check it all out. Everything worked perfect except for the air pressure on the dash. I figured out where I have the senders mounted (on the valve block) is wrong, they should be mounted directly into the tank, so I need to pick up a couple more fittings. |

Re: 72 Dropmember Suburban
My radiator came in, still waiting on brackets for it.
