Very cool model. I saw models the other day and they were 19.95. Wow. There weren't any trucks.

Nice clean build on the truck model. Is that what your truck is going to look like? I've never gotten away from building models, but have to be in the right frame of mind to get motivated. If I have "real" stuff to work on it's hard to focus, so most of the miniature progress is accomplished in the winter.

I'm the same way when it comes to the miniature work... Since our winters here are normally non-existent for a good part of that season, I picked one of the hottest days this year to finish up what I started last summer...:mm:
My truck should look similar, except the grill and bumpers are gonna end up Flat White, and I'm considering doing the roof Flat White as well... :uhmk:

Thanks for checking in and am looking forward to more Car Show pics and hearing that the stalling issue has been resolved!:metal:

Very nice score on the tools! I also liked the new welding cart and always good to see sparks flying.

Keep that model within viewing distance and I am sure it will motivate you.

Thanks again for the offer on the bed strips! You are one good dude!

I have to say, your hood ornament is 100% cool, but the model for sensible money has made me post a reply.

Love the odd bits you post, and the way your head works.

Since my plans for paint call for a Faux-tina outcome, the pitted Hood Ornament is going to retain it's character via the pitting...started some frame cleaning in preparing for the frame paint... found a second VIN punched on the left frame rail, where it will be located under the cab, along with the one stamped in near the front crossmember on the same rail, forgot to snap a pic...:dohh:

Here's a pic or two of the aforementioned 2cd VIN...

Just read through your build. it sounds like your having fun and enjoying learning, making new friends and at the same time turning out a nice looking ride. :D One day at a time, every little step gets us that much closer. I'll check back on you now and then, make sure you're not slacking. Awesome door art! :metal: Keep the sparks flying and you'll be grinnin and spinnin in no time.

Got to meet Tim and his recently acquired Short Stepper this morning...:mm: He was getting new Wiper blades and having the parts store scan the interior paint so he could finish the bed... P.O. had redone the front cap and interior the same color, Tim's truck is sporting a 327 w/ Floor Shifted 3 Speed... :uhmk:

Truck Time Tomorrow!:metal:

Following Da Bears game today, I called Jeff (Da Bears Da 1) to talk football...:bann:

After getting off the phone, I was able to do more recruiting...:uhmk:
I spotted this Beautiful '63

http://imageshack.us/a/img853/4374/3pvo.jpg

Followed him to his destination, and introduced myself... Bobby has this '63, bought it with 55,000 original miles, cleaned it up and has put a little over 2000 more miles on it... Bobby drives a truck for a living and doesn't get alot of wheel time in the 63... He was kind enough to take a few minutes to talk...:mm: He popped the hood and fired up the 230 that ran smooth as silk, He even laid a quarter on the valve cover, the coin never moved...;)

Close up of the 230...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

No real update for my truck build... :waah:

Had to wait for the Son, the Vovlo Owner to get a day off work... Today was the day...
Plans, replace te clutch in the 81 242 DL...:mm:
Weird chatter and noise upon take off, my brain immediately went to clutch once rear-end bushings were inspected...
Gotta learn how to look a bit further when inspecting...:dohh:

After getting the tank up on stands... I crawled under, started unhooking the clutch cable and planning subsequent steps when my eye was drawn to the carrier bearing...
I'm not an engineer, but am still scratching my head over the need for a 2 Piece Driveshaft...
Found this rubber bushing the Carrier bearing rides in...

http://imageshack.us/a/img20/5898/2x18.jpg

As you can tell, parts of this bushing have decided to go missing!
This was allowing the entire driveshaft to flex in any direction around 1 &1/2 to 2 inches... needless to say we found the source of the weird noises upon take-off...:metal:
We also found a very worn u-joint at the front of the rear shaft...:thud:

New Clutch will be stored until needed...:uhmk:

The only thing I accomplished with the Truck was rolling the chassis across the driveway to make room on the small concrete pad for the Volvo... Not quite the number slide puzzle Bomp refers to, but moving stuff around nonetheless!!!:bann:

It's fortunate that housing was discovered before the carrier bearing detached violently. Weather has changed here too. Went from two months of 90's to 50's - 60's! Time to get the snow tires ready! ;)

Thank the Good Lord for sure!!! The rear shaft u-joint at the center bearing was toast as well... Gonna get everything re-installed the afternoon... Thanks again Mark! ;)
