But for now its Maude. Very sad when this happens. Maude is a 65 that is special to a very nice lady. We did tons of work on floors and doors, rebuilt the engine and got a built 700R, did a completely new chassis and in the middle of test fitting sheet metal... we were informed that the finances had dried up. I've had this happen before and it seldom has a good ending. So, since we don't want our efforts to deteriorate we quickly sprayed some epoxy sealer on the cab and will push her outback with a water proof cover. Who knows what will happen next to Maude??? Pics as she is now... |
Re: tuba trucks
Very nice work, Clem... as usual!
I think people underestimate the amount of $$$$ that it takes to do a project 'right'. I tell people to expect to pay the cost of a brand new full size truck with same amount of bells and whistles. |
Re: tuba trucks
you're exactly right… but then I say that your old truck will appreciate and not depreciate, that it will be cheaper to register and insure, that parts and services in the future will be less, but best of all… older trucks kill it in the cool department. go figure.
all we can do is build them… can't afford to finance them too. hope she comes back and continues the build, I don't know what to do with it otherwise. and thanks Daddy-Oh.. really dig your work. |
Re: tuba trucks
Is she up to date? I hope so.
|
Re: tuba trucks
Excellent work Clem. October can't get here soon enough.
Hope the best for Maudes owner. |

Thanks Bomp and LowElco, the good news is she came by on Friday with an installment and reassured me that all was good... Maude's Back.
We spent a couple of weeks on the Austin Blue and got quite a bit done. Front sheet metal and bright work hung, Retro sound stereo and subs installed, all the factory air stuff finished and a bunch of the paint and body work on the bed and tailgate plus the wheel tubs... |

Friday was a banner day... after 5 years of sitting out back all deprived and neglected my 39 deluxe coupe is headed for headers. Custom Craft Headers is building a set of fender walls for the LS6. That is hopefully only the beginning of the work on this car cause I really want to drive my HotRod before... ahhh, well, you know, before.

Are they standard or an aftermarket piece? I do like the way Clems came out. Checked a pic from when I got my truck....... I believe they are standard. Bret |

Yep Rian they are standard. Never noticed it on yours until you mentioned it. They will help with you cooling alsi by keeping the air pushing thru not over /around radiator, especially if you get or make some of the rubber pieces to keep the air flow right.
Mine are not nearly as nice as Clem's |

Hope everyone has voted for Clem truck of the month

We got to a point where pics were relevant on the Austin truck.
the bed got deep paint and a beautiful cut and buff by Dano. Next the tubs and inside bed panels got undercoat. Then it was on to the boards... used pine from Mar-K and decided to see if we would like a gloss black finish. Not having seen it before we primed and sanded then put 8 coats of gloss single stage enamel on them. Once again Dano cut and buffed till they looked like the top of a Steinway. We liked it. |
Re: tuba trucks
wow
|
Re: tuba trucks
Love that bed!!!
|
Re: tuba trucks
Steinway finish is an understatement!
My God that's beautiful. |
Re: tuba trucks
That looks better than any Steinway I have ever seen and I have seen a few.
