Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Adjusted the kick down linkage I installed last week. I forgot about the adjustment and was worried sick all weekend that my transmission problems were back. Such a relief to just push a button, pull the clip out a little and now it runs smooth! haha
Saturday I had another brain fart, after installing the cable the engine wouldn't turn over. I've been having all sorts of electrical isssues (PO had alot of aftermarket wiring everywhere just twisted together, no nuts or tape or anything.) So I get out my meteres and start tracking it down.... turns out I just knocked the distributor cap plug out when installing the cable. I'm laughing at myself now, but was I mad then ! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Installed the front clip, replaced the plug wires, finished plumbing the carb, partially rewired the harness for the new style alternator.Cranked it but the distributor is out a tooth.Soon.....

I was going to buy new trim. Then I decided to try and polish them up. It took a few tries but I figured out a good process. sand with 500, sand with 2000, rub with never dull, roughly polish with toilet paper, and finish polish with micro fiber towel. This process was very fast. 5 minutes from start to finish on one piece.

Thanks guys, X2 on Lake's post. I got mine on Ebay. The desert sun kills plastic and rubber here. The few that I looked at parting out, were sun damaged, so I went with a new one from ebay. This is the one that I ordered http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-00...ht_24479wt_941 Big Fenders inspired me to just do it. I wasn't sure that I wanted to drill into the cab to mount it, but it just looked too good... I personally think that this is one of the best upgrades for our trucks... cheap, easy and improves safety :metal: Thanks for the comments on my dash too ;) I ordered some parts and when they arrive, I will post pics on the progress :smoke: Tony |

Love the brake light but on your dash it looks like you used plastic lenses (colored) exactly where did you get those lenses I am in the process of doing my 66 gmc dash and was wondering what to use for those idiot lights. I did find a 5000rpm sun tach on craigslists and am now looking for a clock out of a 62 impala or corvair for the other side.....thanks for you help !!! here is a link to my instrument cluster which is still in process, http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...99080648_wodHJ :gmc2: Kieth |

I made a bit more progress on my hidden stereo installation today. I cut down some Sony speaker boxes I had laying around so they would fit under the bucket seats. I didn't want the speakers visible since the radio is hidden. Wires are all run and I installed the antenna and the antenna extension cable. Only thing left to do is get an antenna adapter for the radio. It seems GM changed the antenna connection on 1988 and up radios. http://inlinethumb51.webshots.com/44...600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb54.webshots.com/43...600x600Q85.jpg |

Hi Kieth, I got the LED's from ebay. This is the seller that I got mine from eBay They have different colors and will combine shipping ;) I used some scrape Lexan to make the fillers to insert in place of the original indicator lenses. I used and 1 1/8" hole saw to cut them out and then the LED fit right into the pilot hole for the hole saw :smoke: I just ordered the same decal for the gauges and should be in early next week :metal: I'll post pics soon Tony |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Started scuffing the engine compartment to clean up and paint so it looks a little better. My future son in law and son were huge help on this chore.
A little progress is still progress, before and after. |
