Bam. Finished it up (do need to get a carbide bit for my die grinder, and clean up a few hard to reach welds). Decided to strip the frame down and put on SPI epoxy instead of the junk I had previously. Stripped and repainted total area under cab. I'll be doing the rest of the frame in pieces as I go.

Installed the first side (driver's) of the electric windows that the P.O. and my friend gave me as a bro-bonus.
I had the doors and windows all done, but I'm really glad for the e-windows. Tip: If you ever, in the most remote chance think you'll be taking your doors apart again, never, ever, ever use these big handle "guards" (or whatever you call them) shown in the pic. I had to grind brand new handles into trash to get the door panels off. They simply hide the clips. At least with the door panels *I* am using. I got one side ground down, and was grousing like the old codger I am when grandson Will showed up to clean up my mess and save the day and mood. He handed me tools until one side was all buttoned up. Now, I'm off for a few weeks and no time for the truck.Bummer. I was hoping to get both sides done so I could mail off both manuals off and mailed to a Form Member for his build. |

Got my to do list of things under the bed done and reinstalled the bed. That sure feels good. In this picture the bed is just setting loose and needs to be shimmed. Now I need to get some body work and a few other details done. Then it's time to drive this thing! Yesssss
|
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Pulled the bed off, threw it on a scrap metal trailer and cut the exhaust off.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I installed a console that a friend gave me. I don't know what it's from, but after some modifications to make it sit level, it worked out nicely. Afterwards, I washed it, and made ready for a Utah trip next week. I get to see how it runs at 10,000 ft.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Today, well today Im just driving home from a long trip out west.
Friday however, I found an absolutely perfect pair of 67 doors and a very good right inner fender. These were the last remaining large parts I needed for my truck. Now all I have to do is put in another 500 to 600 hours labor and an untold amount of money buying "small" items--and Ill be on the road again!! Im glad its a labor of love cause it sure wouldnt "pay"!! |

Making room for my new passenger showing up in a few weeks. Bench out, buckets in with new seat belts too.
This is my final test fit. Welding up all the brackets today, just have to make a new shifter handle. It has been a far larger project than expected. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Aren't they ALL lorger projects, money and time wise than expected, just changing my doors I told myself, 5 weeks later still fixing small stuff.
