Re: Daverods project 66

All the parts that have started to rust on me looked to be of good quality when I first got them but after 3 to 4 years they now have a rough rust texture that will not polish out and they have never been out in the weather as the truck is not even finished yet.
Just doesn’t seem right when the rechromed bumpers off my old Chevelle have been laying out in the weather longer and still look new.

Due to the E.P.A. chrome shops have all but disappeared across the country, if you are going to chrome anything I would suggest that you really shop around. I have never used them but then again it has been 20 years since I have had anything chromed but it seem Advanced plating somewhere in Texas I believe is the name that I most often hear at shows. I have also heard in order to make it worth wile you have to save and send everything you want done at once if you do it a piece or two at a time you end up nickel and diming your self to death. Of course this will all change buy the time I am ready LOL.

The company is called Advanced Plating. They are located in Nashville, TN. In 2010, the flooding in that area nearly wiped out everything. They took the time and spent the money to fix and upgrade a bunch of their operations. Very high quality work.

Got my ebay radiatior mounted. I needed a new one anyways. Put on my inner fenders from my 66 . Beat my hood into submission and sprayed on some fake patinia. I noticed my fan was bent alittle I just bent it back. Think it will be ok or does it need to be perfect? It's not to bad I'm just sure it's not the same as the other blades.

Re: Daverods project 66

Happy Memorial day to all you old Veterans:flag: Thanks again.

If the fan is out of balance it will wear out the bearings in the water pump early. If it comes apart, you don't want it stuffed into your radiator.

If it's just bent out shape a little, pull the fan belt, bolt it up and just spin and watch, adjusting the bent blade until it aligns up again.
Measure and compare all the blades at the same location -one at a time as you rotate things around. If that blade is bent to a flatter pitch, you better change it .
Junk yard trip!! :chevy:

Great minds must think alike Bubba....and so do ours!

I thought I could run a fan in my old nova that I had "straightened" after an accident. It was bent pretty badly though. I was young and trying to save a buck. It came apart a couple of weeks later and luckily just banged around in the engine compartment, scaring the crap out of me. Lucky for me I was near home. Did a junkyard run, and that fan worked until I sold the car. Which I still regret! :banghead:

Not too long after replacing the fan, the water pump went out as well, so I would suggest better safe that sorry!

It's still F*cking windy here. It's been going on for about a month now. Went to Vegas this weekend, and it was windy as hell there too, but only 1 day. :uhmk:

Should get my truck parts on friday.:metal: I know what I'm doing this weekend.:mm: Put some new hood hinges on. Got my radiatior support and battery put in last night. Filled it up and fired it up. She's going live.;) Did'nt know they made so many different types of 4 bladed fans. What a pain. I ended up beating mine into submission. I really was'nt that bad.:uhmk:

Thanks Zack. Thats what I had too. The bolt pattern is alittle bit wider.? I also had another one laying around but the fan was much smaller. Thanks for the offer.
