I block sanded the first coat of primer on my cab today. Found a bunch of low spots I didn't get filled before I sprayed the first coat of primer. Filled the low spots with filler, going to spray another coat of primer tomorrow. Then I get to sand that coat of primer...WHEN WILL THE SANDING STOP????

I stared at my truck off and on all day. I've got a complete stainless brake line kit, new master cylinder, new brake hoses, and new wheel cylinders ready to go on, but I am waiting for the special hub tool I ordered to arrive so I can start on the rear end.

I finally put a master cylinder and booster on it. Still have to connect the lines to the wheels and bleed em. I found this remand unit at ORielly's for just over $100.
Next on my list is a new input shaft seal for the power steering sector and a couple of steering column pieces like the big washer and spring that fits at the bottom of the column. I haven't found a source for those yet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

First thing this morning we removed the front clip off of the '67 swb stepper, then we removed the L6 250 and SM420. First we took the SM420 out up through the cab floor and then took out the engine. The engine will go in a '72 Chevelle.

We discussed what we are going to do on the truck, as usual I am a little confused, but my son said he and my grandson have it all figured out. What we are doing is taking 3 trucks and various parts and making 3 trucks. One will be a lwb fleet, '72 to be used as a work truck, one a '71 lwb fleet will be restored to replace the one that was my grandson's that got broad sided and the last one will be a '67 swb stepper which will be restored for me to drive.

After we got done shooting the breeze we replaced the internals of the rear differential in my son's '72 Chevelle. I had never worked on a differential so I learned a lot helping my son.

Finally finished blasting, scraping cleaning, etc my front crossmember. Man, there was tons of dirt and grease up inside that sucker. PITA. Now to paint it and start getting the front end back together.

Became seriously depressed when contemplating the condition of my steering wheel and seat foam. This needs to become a DD within the next month or so.

You can throw some cheap covers on all that stuff to get you by for a bit.

I picked up a cheap steering wheel for like $80 at the parts store. Thats a pretty easy swap. You can rent a steering wheel puller if you don't have one.

Yep, its likely to be eggcrate foam and a horse blanket. I think I have a random steering wheel around here somewhere.

Here's the steering wheel I was talking about. As I said, you can have it. But it's probably not going to be worth the postage to get it to you. It's heavy.

Went over to the shop for a couple of minutes...Ha! Five hours later, here I am. Out of the mid-90's temp., at least.

Fitted the new "peep" square mirrors, put the radiator in for the count, riveted and otherwise got the grille nacelle in and on, ran some of the front clip wiring.

I chose to run the portion of the wires that "feed" the pass. side headlight, side marker, fuseable link, etc. along the bottom (along the bottom rear, actually) of the radiator core support and then up under the battery box. I took care to route them so that if I had battery overflow issues, the nasty juice wouldn't hit the wires.

I called Early Classic to order a new grille. Mine is brittle and broke in a few places on the install.

After I got home today from work at 5:45AM, I went out to my Blazer and contemplated where to put a few test holes in the floor and rocker panels to inspect what patch panels I need to buy.. I gotta get her preped for surgury. After many weekends of cleaning the garage, I finally reached the 95ish% cleaned and organized status. So last Sat. after I backed her in, I stripped the interior. Took less than 2 hrs, that included sterio removal and vacuming it out. Gotta love these simple ole trucks... I woulda posted last Saturdays activities if I had the time.. but here are some pics. And yes, I will be starting a build thread.. ;)

just got her in

Black 67-68 junkyard steering wheels. I think they look better than the 69-72 wheels and they don't crack or fall apart as badly. A little paint, and it looks beautiful.
