Bus trailer ?

Re: GM Semis
That thing is loooong. Must be for really smart people
There was that beautiful black GMC 5th wheel bus in videos from South America and I've seen that configuration in '30s vehicles. There's a YouTube video about why we don't have trailer buses but I never watched it. I think I'll try to find that now that I'm more curious. That's a heavy load full of workers and tools/gear below |

Found this gem on the net. My favorite, the M 80 series tandem. IMO, has the 11K front axle (flat hubs), unlike the last M 80's posted with 9K front axles (round cap hubs post #2600). Again, just a hunch, would need to see data plate.

All that style! I can't find any difference between either rig owned by different companies.
At one point I had a '55 1st Design short bed and this stake body |

Love those GM fleets! Looking good in 1980.
That's a slick Watkins rig. Look at the size of that reefer unit. I think those trucks were red |
Re: GM Semis
Nice looking fleet. I'll take the 9500 second in line.

Re: GM Semis
Here is a great video on the development of the 1988 'GMT400' series light trucks, but what is of interest to us here is at 0:26 there is a good shot of the 'Aero Brigadier' styling prototype. I don't believe this was a 1990 TopKick/Kodiak (GMT530) prototype, that program started later and the proportions of this truck are quite a bit different.

Rare color photo. Standard practice to paint frames and cabs the same color?

That's what I miss the most is fleet paint jobs. Back when the extra cost was considered worth it. The paint did make a statement. Truck styling may have changed, but I still prefer seeing the new trucks in their traditional livery. Less and less all the time. Out of Richmond, VA is Estes. They still do the yellow with black fenders and red chassis and wheels. I remember when they were all out there. Just the way it was. I've seen some that were white and I worried, but mostly still see paint jobs |
