Took a test drive to try out the 5-speed transmission I installed in place of the column shift 3-speed. What a difference at highway speeds with the overdrive, it just cruises along without the engine screaming. Now, I just need to find an older looking shifter and boot to retrofit. And then on to the floor and rocker sheet metal.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Not today but this week.
wed. i had my brockman glasspacks installed, could only afford to dump before the axle for now.

thursday i installed my correct rear bumper, license plate and autozone tag light.

friday i wired up my front parking lamps to become turn indicators as well.

Saturday i bought a 3/4 inch sheet of birch plywood for the bed, frustrating though since i couldnt cut the edge that goes under the angle bars but a rubber mallet and some pliers to bend the up helped out a bit.i also coulnt find any one to help lift the bed so i packed it all up. i also wired up a relay for the power windows but then my switch went out messing with the windows and i killed about 4 precious hours testing the window and that turned into a mess and i was able to put it all back together. still closer than before.

today i wired the tail lights and tied it all up to look neat and not hang all over the place. had to cut it short since my lady was starting to get tired of waiting for me to clean up and take them somewhere....you know exactly how it is.

Yesterday I found a small fine thread metric nut inside the engine block.

Yeah, I don't know either.

There hasn't been a metric nut in my garage in years.

It happens every year 'bout this time....... Leprichans..... St. Patrick's day is Thursday, they are storing their nuts. (they are from Europe... i.e. metric nuts)

See below: they look like "Vernski", except with a different hat / shoes. Oh, they are really small too (no offense).

Worked a little on the firewall tonight. The rest will have to wait until the cab come back off of the frame. I also decided to see how the tailgates fits. Still trying to make my mind to go with the chains or go for the cleaner look with no chains. I would hate to modify a original tailgate but we will see.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Today I pulled the truck out of the garage for the first time sense I bought it last week. I pulled the front bumper and grill assembly off. I also removed the bolts for the metal bed that the previous owner had put of the wood bed. I need to ground out a few welds and then I will pull the metal out. I cleaned up some of the wiring under the hood. It looked like a rats nest. I think I will clean up the wiring under the dash next. I am only cleaning it up to make it easier to remove and reinstall later after painting. I pulled the windshield wipers, antennae, parking lights, and headlights as well.

I feel like it was a pretty productive day today. Looking forward to getting it done in about two years. Atleast that is what I am shooting for.

So glad I found this site.

Not that expensive cost $269 from craftec.com but it did cost me another $248 for shipping to Australia still worked out cheaper than I could get from here.

Your bed cover looks great. I ran a Gaylord hard cover for about 10 years and it was a nice product, but very heavy and inconvenient by comparison.
