New door didnt need as much so i scared up a nice 1x2 stick and a BFH and layed the stick flat on the door and hit it. It moved pretty good, a couple more hits and my template fit pretty good. Wow lets try my old door probably going to crack the paint creating body work but have nothing to loose. Same stick and hammer it took quite a few more hits moving around both above and below the body line. It worked, some fine tuning with hammer and dolly the temple fit very close to the pass side door. A bit of putty to smooth things up and am happy with the outside. Still dont have a plan for the inside problem.

I'm biting my nails watching this...

Didn’t do much to my 59, too cold at. 14 degrees. Purchased some tires for it.

Well, I am about to go crazy spending money! I just sold another of my old goodies and will be getting my axle dropped.

That's the predicament I'm in: garage is too full so I must work in the driveway, but it's too cold do anything outside. Huge blizzard predicted over the next three days. Where's that global warming they keep promising me? If I can't move to a tropical paradise, I want the tropical paradise to come to me!

I'm REALLY confused. There's a POOL TABLE in the "shop". I think he stores that awesome truck in the basement...

I got out and did an official 5 minutes in on my truck. I am getting stuff ready to be powder coated and tied these parts together in groups. I drilled a rivet out of the front bumper brackets so they could be properly powder coated.

I also got a few more things that I know will not be used ready to sell.
a couple of days ago I ordered up my primer from SPI and bought a few parts I needed on ebay. I also measured and weighed the front axle and all the components I will be sending to SIDS for dropping and mods. Going to have them do the whole thing, install the spindles and all, modify all the steering components and buy the new drag link and tie rod from them. That way it's all ready to go, done deal.

Been working on hydroboost brake set up. Took out vac booster and converted over. Down to hoses and figuring out remote reservoir.

The truck project is on the shelf 'til the weather gets a little better. I just finished building 30 more "throttle boards" for "EnterTRAINment Junction", where I volunteer. (Google it to view the largest indoor train display in the world.) We're just about done replacing all of the old microcontroller-based controllers with PLC controllers - for 85 trains that run at the same time.

Then I got wrapped up in building a $69 guitar kit, which should take less than 4 hours if I don't get carried away. At least it'll (probably) be the same color as the truck. I'm painting it like a car, of course... :)

Thanks, I am getting a pretty good hold on things now, just need to take my hoses off my pump and see what thread I have. I think I would just use a reservoir on the master cylinder if I can find the right one that is level and not made to be on a slant.

I honestly believe it will be less work to install my dropped axle on the truck than it is making the friggin box to send it to SIDS. I am not kidding, I have put about 4 hours into this!

brian - why don't you just by the axle out right from sid's? I found the cost for shipping the axle was more than the core cost. plus you have a stock axle as a spare or to sell on flea bay.

Oh jeeez, I thought I already went through this, crap. After all the work of making the box, I think it's going. LOL

Day 12 or something like that on door fiasco. Decided to put front fenders on to see if door was going to need more than what i knew about and sure enough body line wasnt quite right, panel alignment needed work ect. Off came the door. Decided to try and pull the inside damage with a stud puller. Sorry didnt get any pics as i went, welding and pulling studs worked way better than i thought it would. Door has been off and back on multiple times but i think i finally got the results i can live with

Been doing some detailing, today at the hardware store I found a part in the plumbing aisle to dress up the base of the steering column where it passes through the carpet. Less than $1.00

My "escutcheon" is from the plumbing dept. too, but it's rubber.
