I didn't let living in a an apartment keep me from doing a little bodywork  also tested out some temporary rattle can colors. May go with the satin blue on the bottom and plastidip the top satin black or just rattle can all of it.

Nice truck, I wouldn't raddle can it, Maaco quoted me price of $900 with body work or $300 less without door jams. Want to two-tone mine so going it alone with paint from (Paint For Cars. com) Toms River, N.J. ...$75/$85 per gallon kit with everything. By the way mine is going to be silver on top with Midnight Blue on bottom...about like your color.

Can we get a photo of the shifter location in the cab? And what shifter location did you use on the trans? Is this the T56 Magnum 6 speed?

Really nice job on the trans mount by the way!

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the advise. I just want to be able to take it completely apart when I do paint it. Funds tight right now so just wanted something temporary and cheap.

instead of rattle cans have you checked out duplicolor they have a cheap already mixed paint system for a spray gun . it is only a small step better than spray bombs but its easier to get it looking even . it is laquer but should hold up better and look better probably around 200 bucks to do a truck our size . no mixing pour through a strainer right into a gun and spray

Finally got my 71 back on all 4's. After it being on stands all summer for a dana 44 refreshing and a front spring up grade. As you can see still lots of work too do.

Next up is putting in all the new steering components with a ps up grade :metal: . Then brakes.
Gotta get it roll able so i can push it into the garage for a lil' welding On the firewall at the bottom of the heater box mount.
Then the 400ci. can get dropped in.

This winter i'll do the rockers and other sheetmetal work.i hate being all dressed for cutting and welding in the heat of summer.

VERY SLOW WORK as its not a priority.

No, I asked a bunch of "old" engine builders and took a little bit of info from each of them, and then formulated my strategy. The cam is new, and new juice lifters (I've never messed with solid lifters, I'd like to try).

Attached is a cam break-in write up that I found online, I don't remember where, but props to the author because it is great.

Thanx ! .

That's pretty good .

If I'm using a new cam I follow this almost exactly, if re using an old cam I use 3,000 RPM's ~ either way if you set everything up correctly , the entire engine breakin is done in 60 seconds .

Picked up my original driver's side front outer fender from the painter. The guy did an excellent job welding up three rust holes. He used pieces from a 1968 Buick Skylark, so even the patches are General Motors and "period correct." :) :) :)

My buddy Greg from fullers machine did my emblems and my boy Michael "sic" Cato did the roof and panels on my truck we wanted something a lil different on the truck.. C-10 club brother Aaron Boise is responsible for doing my bodywork and painting the whole truck including dash..

I painted that reinforcing bar that attaches the driver's side inner fender to the front of the truck's frame.

The best paint I had for the job was Rustoleum Engine Enamel but I primed it first and it seems to be curing well.

Hey guys,

I want a steering column that is between 2 to 3 inches shorter (I want to move the steering wheel closer to the dash). Anyone know if there is a vehicle that has a column that would do what I'm wanting? I'm not really concerned about tilt, but it's not a deal breaker. I think I saw something about some of the Camaro's columns doing this, but I can't find it.

I found this short floor shift tilt in a motor home at a local jy.
i dont remeber just how much shorter it is but seems too work well in the kids 67.
Dont mind his sloppy installation the cluster rubber dont need too be squished like that. And his no longer needed choke cable stretched across the colum. He needs something cool too fill the knob hole like a delete thingy.

The motor home was a 70's chev van with a fiberglass aero looking front clip and a box type home in the back.
Not a huge travel home but certainly differnt looking.
It had a auto shifter on the dash just off the side of the engine cover.

My Red 67 is getting a update. I am getting ready to start my 6.0L on the test stand. This will replace my 350 vortec roller motor, I am so done with carburetors. Also swapping out my built 200R4 for a T56 too. Out with the old in with the newer.
