Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread
It's funny you mention that cause when I first got the truck I said I'm glad they painted white  Then as I started replacing and fixin the interior the red dash and roof started to grow on till one day I said the original red looks really good. Now I look at red trucks with the 67-68 front end and I say that looks so good with the chrome accents

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread
my truck was originally white with "red vinyl trim" probly looked a lot like yours does now. unfortunately all thats left from the original truck is the frame and doors!
agree on the chrome... Posted via Mobile Device |

Hey Shawn, How hard was it to install the cable gas pedal? I have the stuff to do it, just not totally understanding the steps...
Truck is coming along nicely! Thanks again for the help on that headlight relay some time back =) |

What I did was remove the old gas pedal, then make the hole for the cable which for some reason was a lot higher up the body than I expected. There is a dimple in the body, a point where from the factory there is a little divet in the metal. I want to say its about 4-6" above the old hole for the pedal rod. Drill a 1/2" hole through that dimple up high and then take a flat file and file it till its a perfect 1/2" square. Then mount your new pedal to the LFD adapter and run your cable through the hole in the engine comparment til the little square plastic thingy clicks into place on your firewall. Then just connect it to the pedal and the bracket on your carb. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more pics or help.

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread
Great choice on painting it back to the original Red, in my opinion nothing looks better than a Bright Red 67-68. Mine will be red too, there is no way I'm going to paint it back the original Blue/White. I know you see alot of red and people always tell me not to do it cause there are too many red trucks but I just don't care. Red is my favorite color and it just looks amazing on our trucks. I like the Red/White combo Chad suggested, I was thinking about that for mine. Red with a white grill, roof and letters in tailgate.

Ok guys here is an update I have been waiting for since I bought the truck. I dropped my Th350 core next door at the transmission shop for it to be rebuilt :metal: I really want the 700r4 but for now this will do. Besides these guys are really hooking me up. Props to Lodi Transmission!! Thank you Ron and Larry!!

Sweet Shawn! How long before they will have it ready?

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread
Well they will probably get it apart today and see if the drum and stuff is still good for a rebuild. Hopefully by early next week but really since they are giving me the homie discount I'm not to worried :D

Re: Shawno72's long overdue 68 daily driver build thread
Why did you switch to a 72 gas pedal? And that's what that simple is for on the firewall! Haha always wondered. I always thought it was to high for the 71 72 pedal... I'm thinking about doing a cheaters version of this conversion...
