Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Couldn't you run a 20an for the cooler hoses. Thats what I run on my 1600hp 101mm boosted mustang with zero cooling issues. Just a thought.

Just out of curiosity what made you select to go with a single turbo over twins on this setup?

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Well even though it was just out of the garage, it moved under its own power for the first time in almost a year.

Dual 10 gph nozzles with progressive control thru the Megasquirt will keep the intake air nice and cool, even without an intercooler. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psc7c61a10.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps77427464.jpg |

I'm curious though, in regards to your "zero cooling issues" comment, how many street miles and road trips does your car see? I'm building a fast cruiser I can drive anywhere (with the AC on) not an SSO mustang, lol. I'd love to see some pics or vids of that stang though. Om nom nom nom huge turbos. :metal: Quote:

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Lookin sweet so far , your exhaust is very similar to have I did on my truck for the turbo but I ran the exhaust all the was down to rear tire with a manga flow diesel muffler but ended up cutting that out cause I thought it was to quiet lol

On my turbo C-10, I had an MBRP diesel muffler for awhile, and I agree...way too quiet. I ended up with a 4" Dynomax race bullet, and a turndown under the cab. Sounded great and was pretty loud when getting all over it, but was totally reasonable at cruising speeds and idle. Quieter than a muscle car with flowmasters, lol. |

Congratulations – that’s got to feel good. |
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Wrapped up a bunch of things last night. Had a buddy stop out, so I put him to work. We got the sheetmetal put back on the front, as well as a few other random things.
My brother built a console out of particle board and aluminum sheet for a place to mount the shifter, cupholders, gauges, switches, and a tablet. We'll be covering it with carpet to make it look nice. The two buttons on the shifter handle allow tap-shifting of the 4L80E via the MegaShift transmission control module. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps35b6b46d.jpg I'm real happy with how it looks with the sheetmetal on. The stance is exactly where I envisioned it. I love it when a plan comes together. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...ps656250d1.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psa67667e0.jpg Here's a quick startup and idle vid...of course we had to play with the 2 step a little bit. Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Ride height looks good; drivable for sure-and that's the plan!!
|
Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
The tires fill the wheel wells to make the stance perfect.

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
I'm sure it's in here somewhere, damned if I can find it, what size are the tires? ...and also how high does this sit? Mine will be, according to Dave at Porterbuilt, about 8 1/2 inches from frame rail to the ground with a slight rake on a 28" tire. My 295/45/18s are just over 28".

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Thanks for the compliments, guys! Got it on the road today for an ice cream run with the family. "Farm Shop" from here on the board also got his cammed LS1 Judge on the road yesterday, so we put a few shakedown miles on 'em!

It was great to see it on its maiden voyage, even if mother nature wasn't really cooperating. Its gonna be a street pounder for sure. :sumo:

Re: Project Family Truckster: 2wd Conversion Turbo LSx Blazer Build
Well I think this build thread is about done for now, save for the dyno results and such. I took a minute to reflect on the past 10 months...
