I guess the motor is supposed to go next to the seat? Weird.

Osteopath beat me up really well today with her gentle touch.
Took me 4 hrs + to recover from the pain and walk upright again. Crazy. But the good news is that the sunset was lovely. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(687).HEIC Currently truck just needs to wait. . |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
Glad you recovered. Hope they get you squared away soon.

Part of my referral letter looks like this..... summarised it means a mechanical failure. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(226).jpg And a selfie taken about 2 hrs after the osteopath had her gentle hands on me. Amazing how such a gentle touch can cripple one, think of a Ninja. It certainly makes getting on with stuff less easy and certainly quite unpleasant with the pain, and how you need to plan literally every step you take. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(688).HEIC |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
Always something.
Noticed at the weekend that the tailgate retaining cables were not quite as they should be. The drivers side was held captive by a Nyloc nut, and the passenger side had its original equipment fitted, so could release the slotted cable end. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(689).HEIC As fitted. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(691).HEIC Whats missing. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(690).HEIC Conversely, the drivers side unit had been replaced by this part. Not ideal. So with zero chance of finding one here in the UK, I decided that slightly rounding off the corners of the bodged nut would be as good as it gets for now. Bench grinder to the rescue. Back on the truck. Do e. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(692).HEIC . |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
I did the same thing on one of my trucks years ago. Too cheap to go out and get what I had buckets of in the shop. I ground the nut down like you did.

Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
For me, right now, even driving 14 miles to town and back ends up in some serious pain.
Mate Kevin drove over to see me today from Maidstone and picked up some anthracite paint at Halfords. I had decided after painting the centre caps silver, that it was not the right colour and needed changing, regardless of outcome. So a reasonable match it seemed. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(695).HEIC First of two coats. Difference apparent https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(693).HEIC First coat on. Second to follow. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(694).HEIC Then Sally popped in, on her way home and I managed to seduce her....... Withone of these, before she headed off to do a load of chores Bacon (loads of it) and egg toasty sandwich. . https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(696).HEIC Then she went off and I added coat one of clear to the anthracite, which perfectly made it a touch darker. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(228).jpg And much later, a second coat of clear https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(227).jpg Have to say, I am really pleased with the outcome. Fitting when I get a chance. . |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
Very Nice!
And now I want a bacon/egg sandwich! |

It was a good sandwich, just needed some real Heinz tomato sauce. Remember this little guy? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(690).HEIC Seemed highly unlikely that I would find one randomly, but then randomness is often what drives the fun factor in our hobby. Just think of the set of ZQ8 wheels that landed in my lap, sold to me by a guy who had no need for them, and did not realise how desperate I was to find a set to put the truck back to standard. Crazy stuff I know. It happens. Yesterday morning when I woke, a Messenger message from a good friend, Ric, in Chandler, Arizona. Asking whether I had found the rear tailgate pin yet to replace the stud and Nyloc nut currently fitted. Of course I had not....... So he offered to post one out to me, taken from his previous race truck, he is a keen Auto Cross driver and has a few other interesting cars stashed away, awaiting his attention. As he says, at his age, this is an affordable, reasonably safe, and skill improving sport to participate in. He does compete against all sorts of really powerful and capable kit, being that his truck is s along wheelbase, slow, slightly modified vehicle and his daily. He still works as an auto mechanic. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(166).JPG So the previous truck had two non fault accidents, the second one being part of a 34 car pile up where he was car no 7 in the action. Leaving Truck No 1 looking sorry for itself. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(165).JPG In the pile up the rear end got bent too, so he bought an identical truck to build the race parts over onto. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(164).JPG So my day yesterday, other than my niggly back, actually ended really well, and another nice sunset. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(697).HEIC So much to be said for living rurally. Centre caps to finally be fitted later today, once they have been in the sun to harden the many coats of clear I added. Looking forward to this. |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
Carrying on.
Three coats of clear. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(700).HEIC Colour really is alive in this choice of Anthracite. Tried the wheel nut covers. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(699).HEIC And amazing how different it looks indoors, on a white dogs duvet cover. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(698).HEIC On my way back from the osteopath I did a 200 meter detour to check up onthese trees. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(704).HEIC Back to getting home, I needed to keep. Moving in order not to seize up. What better way, than to fit these long overdue and now correctly painted centre caps. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(703).HEIC I was walking around the truck after fitting them..... swearing, just repeatedly saying “Dang.... this looks good, this is so right” https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(702).HEIC And a side shot. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(701).HEIC To say I am cuffed is an understatement. I am so chuffed. It was the right choice to go with the new wheels. |

From Arizona. Pleased to see you posted some memories! I was the 7th vehicle back from a stoplight when a VW Passat hit me at 70mph without braking, then deflected into 3 other lanes! The pics of the bed and chassis are AFTER I pulled the rear frame rails on the chassis back almost 2 feet and hammered the middle of the bed down about 18". The RR wheel was almost touching the cab after the wreck and I couldn't separate the bed or move the truck before. Latch pin is in the mail as of today, along with another surprise! 10-14 days international first class mail. Chatting with Ric last night on Messenger, then video he sent a teaser pic. Such a little thing...... Much pleasure. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(167).JPG Thanks mate. |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
I am still not tired of this truck.
Yesterday I used it to go to the Osteopath. Before entering, a slightly faked smile, knowing I have walked out there like a cripple every time before. She really does not hurt you while working on your spine, but man..... afterwards, even getting off her table is a slow, painful, process. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(705).HEIC Afterwards yesterday I went to a favourite place to get a few pics on the new wheels and caps. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(709).HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(708).HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(707).HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(706).HEIC How many times can I say that I am so chuffed with how these ended up. . |

Good shots of the ride Rian. The wheels definitely fit the truck!

Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
A great weekend in Kent.
https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(711).HEIC Sally wanted to get some plants in. My back continues to say NO. So she did it all. I paid. Strong woman. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(713).HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(712).HEIC Also on the agenda was the go kart that Sally and Mickey unloaded after telling me off and telling me to step back. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(231).jpg Rear wheels and axle are rusted solid, so I called on my last can of bootfair bargain Duck oil, to hopefully penetrate sufficiently. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(710).HEIC Offset seating to accommodate the side mounted motor on these. Two Nylocs, finger tightened held theone side crash protector. 3 minutes to remove. Thats better. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(714).HEIC Sally worked in the garden, I cooked a nice Beef Bhuna curry, now the house smells of air freshener, after having doors and windows open. A great weekend over all too soon. |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
i love battle weary flags.
Mate Gary, Mr Zog in Florida recently messaged me to see if I wanted his old flags before he replaced them. Of course, I also offered to pay the postage. Today the postman brought a box. Surprise https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(232).jpg Included was a t-shirt hoody I had asked him to get for Sally. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(716).HEIC Loads of things, including a new embroidered Stars and Stripes.... And these brilliant license plate screws,]] Ideal for a personal plate. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...x/001(233).jpg Also happening currently, 4 houses from me, not ideal for a truly knackered back...... A partial house demolition and rebuild Resulting in so much free wood. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(715).HEIC All going to be burned. Licensed to scavenge. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(717).HEIC So over the next few days, with Sally as primary donkey, I will be dragging some of this lumber home, firstly to be de-nailed and to remove all the screws, then store it for further use. Including garden bed edging and some shoring for the new concrete driveway strips. Weekend soon. |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
.
A small, vital to me parcel landed yesterday. Thanks Ric, and seeing a rust free, like new.... 20 year old tailgate cable stay is quite refreshing. Thanks again for the parts for my truck. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(719).HEIC |
Re: GRIZZ’s English 2001 S10 Extra Cab 4.3 V6 Truck
So.
If we go for a set of pressed steel American style plates What plate surrounds? One in front, one in the rear. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(720).HEIC https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(718).HEIC Or this. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(721).HEIC . |

Skulls.
First one you DON'T need to give anyone something to contemplate. Only like the year when it matches vehicle. |

So 1963 is kinda personal, more than the actual vehcle. Never took a pic of the truck at the gas station. But....... This was on 246 miles or 393km driven randomly, with no concern for consumption and with gay abandon. After all, it sounds brilliant when you nail it. So basically driven as badly as one could. 57 liters Anyone want to name and shame and do the calculations? https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag.../001(726).HEIC |
