We got started on the body work yesterday. There's probably two weeks worth of "mudslinging" to do

We also got the fuel tank mounted and the rear cross replaced so we can now get the regulator mounted and start running fuel lines

Jerry, the green stuff is Evercoat "Everglass" with kevlar fibers in it. Great bonding properties and only used to build areas up. The light green (might look yellow) is Keystone brand Premium Plus Gold lightweight filler. Both are excellent products and there should be a Keystone store near you where you can source them and all of your other bodywork needs.

I'm sure it's way too late to ask, but I've just come to this thread. Any pics or info on the temporary bracing you used to hold the cab together while replacing the floor and firewall? I'm eager to learn as much as possible to minimize the chances of further destroying a cab already in need of serious help. Thanks!

Great project and dedication, BTW. I was born and raised in Waterloo and thus spent a fair amount of time in Cedar Falls.

Brent

I don't have pictures of the bracing (there may be one in the thread) and frankly we didn't do much. If you want to see how to REALLY brace a project check out Nathan Porter's website http://www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com and scroll through one of his build threads....he doesn't leave anything to chance

Thanks, Jon. Read the whole thread and didn't see the pics of the bracing I was hoping for, but I'll check out the site you mentioned as soon as possible. Thanks again!

Same here.

I was a CW02 in the Army, then resigned in 96

Then Lt. CMDR in the Navy Reserve, after 9-11.

BTW, I need to get down there and see this project, pick up the Serp set up and sheet metal.

Not a problem. I will be bringing two other very capable workers. What do you need done?

Ok, the list of parts we need has grown, too.

Does a weekend work for you?

If so, which one?

I don't think that will work, but let me check. Also, would you have the parts in the shop in time?

I'll make myself available when it's good for you...on the parts I can't predict the future...LOL

Ok, shoot me a PM with what you need done. I will see what we can do about getting some work done.

Also, if I need to bring tools, let me know. I pretty much have most you can imagine.

Re: Tri-Pro's "Project GPW"

ok...just learned something new to me. The top of the windshield frame is different in '67-'68 than it is in '69-'72. The piece that bridges the "A" posts on our '68 has two step downs from the top to the lip and our '70 has a single, much larger, step. I wonder if this is why some people have such fits with the windshield molding with the chrome?
