Auto body was offered, but I was doing mechanical, welding, machine tool, etc. There just were not enough hours in the day for me, or I would have done that too.

Since your doing it yourself in the garage, maybe build a plastic tent around it with a fan for a little positive pressure to keep the dust down. It looks very good so far.

I have some buffing experience. My real job was running a detail shop. We would do 9-15 cars a day. Then after i left work i went to the body shop to wetsand and polish those cars. ahah

Here are the pics. Came out REALLY good.. ONLy issue im having is that there are VERY VERY tiny swirl marks. I dont know if its just because the clear is soft, or the foam pad isnt as soft as it should be or just because its black. I know i cant wax it yet but i dont want ANY swirl marks. ahaha...

You cant see them, BUT I CAN. ahaha...

Another teaser. This is wetsanded and polished... Came out good to say the least. ahahah..

I had a swirl mark issue with a black golf cart I painted a while back. I waited about a week and re-buffed with swirl remover and it was perfect!

I figured out what it was. The Finesse II im finishing with is for oem clear coats that have been on for awhile. That and im only doing 2 stage. So im going to switch to a 3 stage step, get a softer foam pad, and a different finishing product and im good to go... more pics to come.

Ya, it looks incredible for just a 2 stage... Once i do the 3rd or 4th stage it will look like a mirror. ahaha..

My gun is a Airwick???? Just a medium gun... works great.. I have never used a really expensive gun, so i cant tell the difference.. BUTTT< i have used different paint products, and WOW THAT is a huge difference... paint lays SO much nicer, the clear is just unbelievable. SPI is awesome.. And house of kolor black is BLACK.. Not even a tiny ting of brown.

Nice work for blk .That is the most hardest color to paint.. let it set in the sun for some days. I think we have the same sony camera .They take some good shots ...

Alot of people say that about black.. But black was easier to spray then any metallic... You have to worry ALOT less about sand scratches and stuff because the clear buries EVERYTHING in the black ya know... Easiest thing i have painted so far.

Just some info. Finally got the bed sanded and all imperfections sanded out very good. So no need to repaint. Bed is currently sanded, and out of hte garage... All i need to do is wetsand the fenders, move them outside and then i can finish the cab and start assembly... :|

Welp, bunch of pics, but only posting one... Got one door on... and a fender just to see.... Once i get the other door in epoxy, and the inner fenders and buckets epoxied, i will have all the metal BACK on the truck.. First time in two years.

This is one of the fenders i painted..

Orange peal, BEFORE sanding.

After sanding.. Just goes to show that the finish work really means alot...

Oh and a buddy and I are going halfers on the Al Liner, he just got a quote of $600 to put a liner in his new truck and I have wanted one in mine but the $600 kept me from it, I can see it under my 4X4 Burb too, so thanks and thanks!!

Hey, good to see ya....

That als liner stuff is awesome.. I like it....

HOpefully by the end of this monday, i will have
the doors epoxied
the doors on
the fenders on
inner fenders epoxied and installed.
the grill on.

HOPEFULLY.... Also, do have to put the grill on before i put the fenders on??? I know i have to put the inner fenders on before the fenders go on.. i just forgot all this.. and the cowl, when does that go on. LOL

Re: My build. Project Karma. 71 stepside.

you could mount the coresupport, then mount the fender (have the inner fender loosely mounted, you will need a extra hand im sure for the alignment etc. the cowl can go on last( it bolts with 5 screws along the top and a couple on the fender/door area IIRC, you should be able to mount the inner and outer grill later as well. good luck. I have seen people assemble the clip and install, but i would do it in pieces......
