If you would like a little more insight into making dimple dies, check out this thread.....

http://www.offroadfabnet.com/forums/...de+dimple+dies

Quite a bit of good useful info in there.

There are a few other threads on the OFN showing dimpled holes.

Re: my build thread

I built some fire wall mounted hood hinges today kinda like the Porterbuilt ones and after a trip to the Immediate Care to get metal scraped out of my eye and a new Tetnus shot I think it would have been cheaper and less painful to have just bought them lol.

Those holes will be dimple die'd The straight lines wont be there. I dunno having some fabricators block trying to figure out how to make them look good.

I think aluminum would be fine if you didn't go too thick on the material you were dimpling.

I finished building the hood hinges today, I'll test fit them tonight and if everything checks out I'll pull them back out for a final weld.
My hours got cut at work for a few weeks so it will be nice to have another full day to work on this thing, I'm excited for a longer weekend. :metal:

Hood hinges need a little more trimming then a final weld, but basically done. What a PITA those were to make.

Tank bracket, came out OK, I'll run it until the gap where its mitered gets the best of me. Should have welded it then drilled it.

Re: my build thread

Well I've been super busy with side projects lately, building parts for a guys rat rod he is building, and steering parts for a buddies Toyota crawler on 2.5 ton rockwells :metal: and I just finished up a set of dimple dies but I'm starting to get back to work on this thing, I towed my truck down to my shop so I could finally start getting some work done on it. I cut the mounts off of my air tank and lowered them, then got it mounted, also got some more work done on that damned drip rail. Might go to my buddies house this weekend and pick up my motor then start installing that.
I also noticed that my truck would not lay the rocker flat, so after some investigation I noticed it was laying on the front body mounts, so it would either let the front of the cab touch the ground or the rear, so those will be modified to get it to lay flat, I'm also debating on cutting off the lower pinch weld.
No pictures of the work just some randoms I thought were cool.

Been getting a little work done on this thing lately. Made up a bunch of fish plates for the rear end and got those welded on. Also welded up my front tubs and got them smoothed out. Picked up my motor from my co workers house and now that is ready to go in this week. :metal:

Sick build bro.

Digging those upper arms.Powder coating gets addicting once you start.

Just one word of advise.Add a water trap between that viair compressor an the tank.Had a buddy back in the day we bagged his dime an used those paddle gauges. He didnt have water traps so all the moisture sits in the bottom of the tank an gets nasty an smells.Trust me you dont want that smell inside the cab when your cruising around.

Another thing (speaking of moisture) i'd suggest welding a bung in at the lowest point of the tank. Then run what ever air line you have lying around to a ball valve to where w you can reach it.Then after driving just crack it open a bit pshhhh there goes what ever moisture/water that go by your trap.

Thanks man. The tank has a petcock on the bottom that I open up all the time to drain the system.
