Hydroboost came out of the same van the engine did. I have seen Captinfab's adapters, nice stuff! However his adapters place the hydroboost unit about 1.5" farther from the firewall and my push rod was barely long enough to reach the pedal even with the extended end. Plus this plate and end were $25 shipped....and I'm cheap:lol:

Nice work man. It looks like you are so close to having everything gathered up to make this baby run. I am gonna use an inline pump too I think. You remember what year the fuel regulator was added to the fuel rail? You are using the corvette filter/regulator right?

I am looking forward to getting started on my engine install. Getting burned out on this chassis build if you know what I mean. Once it's rolling than I will feel like I'm getting some where.

Thanks guys. Yes that WIX filter is the vette filter/reg. Returnless started in 04, vans were a little late in 05 or 06.

Cool truck keep up the good work,Cruisin is only 6 months away... Maybe when both of our trucks are running we can do a lil cruising as im right across the bridge from you, And i can borrow a couple of your ideas....:chevy:

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Sure borrow away! More than likely the ideas you speak of were stolen from someone else:lol: We really need to have a board meet this year during crusin. I tried to get one going last year, but failed lol.

Got the OBDII port mounted and finally got the radiator in for good with the trans cooler mounted and plumbed.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060312.jpg

Threw on the plug wires and exhaust flanges with O2 sensors.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060313.jpg

Got the fuel line in.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060308.jpg

Still rusty, I'll clean it all up once I can back the truck out and pull the bed.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060310.jpg

Pump in there.

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1060311.jpg

List,
1, Wire fuel pump.
2, Wire OBDII port
3, Hook up MAF
4, Change oil+filter
5, Change trans filter+fluid
6, Add coolant
7, Enlarge hole in firewall and mount/plumb hydroboost
8, Turn key and pray!

Also found out my drive shaft will work at its current length so all I need is a conversion U joint!

For open manifolds, she isn't that loud. No coolant so I didn't let it run long. Air intake is VERY temporary:lol:

Sounds great! What software package did you use and where did you get it?

usmcchevy 04-29-2011 11:49 PM

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks! She smooths out the more it runs. The software is ElmScan, its a scan tool that allows you to view data and read and clear codes. It doesn't have "tuning" capability like HPtuners or EFI live.

More info on it
http://www.scantool.net/elmscan5-compact.html

I bought it on amazon for $40
Amazon.com: ElmScan 5 Compact USB OBD-II Scan... Amazon.com: ElmScan 5 Compact USB OBD-II Scan...

usmcchevy 04-30-2011 02:19 PM

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Thanks everyone. The tune was a mail tune by Black Bear Performance, great customer service. I hope to have it on the road by the end of May at the latest. Then I can start working on it like I originally intended(small weekend projects)

List for drivable.
Fill with coolant
Make push rod spacer for master cly
Install/rebuild steering column and shift linkage
Clean/paint driveshaft and press in U joints
Figure out a air intake
Install hood
Mount TAC and gas pedal
Clean up wiring in cab, behind motor and by computer.
And I better get some exhaust on it:waah:
