I made some changes this week.....I realized that summer is almost over so i might as well slow down and get excatly what i want.....no need to rush it and then redo something later when i should be driving it. Keeping that in mind I hope to start body work in about 10 days....

Wait till you see the cross member .....pulling the dummy block out in the next day or 2 and then the cross member will need to finished. The way it sits right now the bottom pulley is more then half way back on the cross member. It's going to be a differnt look when it's all done. I just hope I don't pound a hole in my oil pan when it's aired down...that would suck.

Thanks man...I can't wait till it's finished.....I am getting tired of pulling wrench on so many differnt projects at once...lol..Speaking of which I see you have a 72 longhorn, I have one too but haven't touched it yet. I was going to make it into my tow vechile but i ended up going a differnt direction.

Well those are good questions.....I haven't decided yet if the booster is going under the floor or on the firewall just yet....The problem is that if i put the booster under the truck...all of my big exhaust runs there and with the truck aired down a 1" off the ground there isn't much room. But wildwood makes a pedal master cylinder combo that could all fit inside the truck and up under the dash and i really don't need a booster with 4 wheels disk brakes.......So that i have to think about yet.The steering is going through the firewall and is a polished flamming river set up.....the gas pedal is a built in set up thats a easy fix.

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

thats cool i got lokar 55-57 brake pedal with the built in offset and there Lokar Eliminator Floor Mount Gas Pedal that goes thru the floor and has a braided cable! the cable will run up the firewall, and it should look nice!!

Chad

That sounds alot like the gas pedal setup I am going to look at.....So many options....

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

i think it would work for you, you got mount it where ever you want to it has a 36" braided cable but can be cut down! i bought the stuff at the beginning of summer thinking i might have enough time to work on it this summer and have the cab ready for carpet and paint! the heat and having to many things going on kick my butt! tomorrow ill take some picture and post them for you so you can see!! i still havent done anything about my cowl hood! speaking of hoods, how is yours coming along?? have you done anything yet?

wutnxt 08-25-2011 10:59 PM

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

I haven't done much with the hood just yet.....and until i get my final engine height....I don't want to start it and find out I need another 1" or something.......

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

well when you do get around to doing the hood take lots of pictures! so i can see how its done on our hoods and i can start on mine!

I hear you on too many projects. That's the story of my life! I do get tired of working on Dodges. Hopefully I can get the Longhorn rolling soon. Keep stabbing away, that's the only these long haul projects get done brother!

Re: 1966 SBBW pro street

Well i guess the next challenges will be.....finding some junker wheels that are 33" tall for the rear and a set for up front. I just had all the wheels polished and new rubber put on and i know how the body shop rolls.....lol. I don't want all of that covered in primer and over spray. Then i guess I have to figure out how to block it up to ride height with out all the air ride in....

But here is a real big question for all of you, I was thinking originally of going a dark green with a pearl white. Then I was thinking that factory color the cab was in and in a satin, not a patina but in a satin. So i have to decide satin.....or gloss ? I think i am chicken to paint it in satin incase I don't like it and have to redo it. It's going to be painted in pieces and put together and then painted again, so it would be huge to change it.

well any ideas?

Guess I'll weigh in, I happen to love the sheen of satin, but make sure you use a satin clear as you'll start polishing the finish every time you rub it. The Harley guys use a product called Ace-It to detail the satin parts of their bikes and keep it from shining. Also applying the paint is quite difficult, as any flaws need a complete respray as the satin shows differently sheen wise when spotted. You can't sand and respray or polish a mark out. So I hear, no experience yet, just gathering info.

Color is very difficult, Dino is probably staying that light blue green color, but your at paint first. I really like that color on our trucks its very bright and shows the lines well. But you have two blue/whites already and a dark green would be great contrast for your collection. Good luck, it will look great no matter whick way you go.

Thanks man
Yea i like that last blue truck that i did blue alot.....and i am really not a blue kinda guy so thats wierd. The shortbox truck beside it i just sold to my buddy so i can still see it...drive it...but not have to fix it...lol

Ya that Dino.....His truck looks great....it's a killer......his will be done before mine i am sure. He seems like a really cool dude too...( Dino that was just for you buddy ) So there is no way i would use the same color he wanted to ...or the same lawn mower engine he is...chuckles.

But I think if i can find a nice silver i will do the frame and under cab all in silver i think. I was going to powder coat the frame, but i think i will fill it and do body work to it so that it's smoother and cleaner now
