I know where you are coming from on this. I started to redo mine 3 years ago and have put it aside for now. I am working on getting my son's truck done by his 16th birthday and it has become a must do project and at times not very enjoyable...

Thanks Dino. Much slower than any of yours but hopefully it will still turn out nice in the end.

YUP! Motivation is definitely a key factor.. Wasn't bashin on ya brother.. :)
Being an ex-Michigander.. I know the winter stuff... It was hard as anything else to do anything in Michigan in the winter but try and stay warm... hated it and the cold gave me zero motivation.. You got a nice build going on... :metal:

Have fun and enjoy it.. :)

Its funny, but I got my truck and started just so I would have something to do in the winter up here !!
The winters are so long and soooooo freekin cold that I needed something I could do indoors, and would be more productive than playing World of Warcraft.

So far it has been a joy, mostly.
There are days however where I have to compell myself to get out there and get something done to it too...

Still not a lot going on. My Dad passed away a few weeks ago and that has kind of kept up the lack of progress. I did manage to hit the junkyards today though. I picked up a deluxe wheel, a spare set of stainless windshield trim and a passenger side fender cowl with no hole for the antenna. I tried getting a Custom Camper emblem just because I guess they are kind of scarce but it had one broken mounting stud, and I finished off the second one. Ran into another guy cutting the roof off a 63 to fix his.

Sorry about your dad. I always found it a great day at the wrecking yard when I came home with something I hadn't expected to find. Looks like you made a nice haul.

Sorry about your dad. Working on these trucks is good therapy, though. Your truck is inspiration for mine (I'm doing the same suspension setup, but on a '67.)

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

Thanks for the comments on my Dad. Some small incremental progress on the truck. I am trying to get everything that needs to be fabricated involving welding on the frame and chassis, so I can blow this thing apart and paint the frame and start reassy. I finished up the front bracing to the radiator support on both sides and finished up my Frankensteinish/Porter Built cross member/driveshaft loop. I need to scope out if I need to weld on the small clips that hold the end of the brakelines or if they will just pass thru the frame, other than that I don't think I have any more fab work to do but guarantee there will be something else. Always seem to need to remove new paint somewhere to weld on a project.

Sorry to hear of your loss! On the upside your truck is looking amazing....one of my favorite builds!:metal: I'm curious....where did you get those hinge pieces you started with? And are they going to allow you to use factory style hinges? Again you are doing some great work!:chevy:

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

Porterbuilt used to make those hinge mounts. I added an additional internal gusset to them because I am running the 1-1/2" bracing off those down to the frame horns. The factory hinges are mounted on them in the photo. I will not be running the springs though. I plan on just having a hood prop bar

Nice work,it looks like this is going to be one mean autocross truck.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

More minor progress. Installed a removable bolt in battery box behind the cab. I will be able to install the box with the battery in the box and bolt in with four 3/8 bolts. I used Coleman 3/8 weld in nut serts so I don't have to mess with a wrench on the back side of the mounting fasteners. Top ones would have been a PITA to access once the bed is installed. Also cut out most of the last remaining areas of rust on the floor. Too bad the windshield gasket was allowed to leak for so long on this truck as it appears to be the source of most of the rust problems. The brace is fine so it will be a floor only patch like I did on the driver side. I also got my mufflers which I need to mount but I am waiting on some rubber insulator hanger mounts.

Re: DURG's Black 65 C10

Started working on the exhaust. Ordered a couple inexpensive 2-1/2" Thrush oval chambered mufflers. Snaking exhaust out the back isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I will probably take it to a shop for the pipes that go from the header collectors back to the mufflers. They need to bump up over the tranny cross member and go through the rear cross member. I'm going to wait on running the final dumps until I get a rear bumper on and truck on the ground to see what it will look like.

Made new rear quarter mounts. These bolt in with the same nut serts I used for the exhaust hangers and battery box. Also received my aluminum 3-1/2" driveshaft from Denny's today.
