I went down and checked out the truck today. First time in a couple months since I actually went to see it. Fortunately the shop sends me tons of pics. Anyways here's some pics of the body work. A lot of little things are going on but we're definitely making progress.

Here's a pic of the firewall once it was done and the hood was back on. Looks a lot better and definitely worth redoing it.

Quite a bit of work has went into getting the driver door gaps and spacing correct. A lot of work went into fixing the garbage work from the other shop. The gaps are looking pretty good and this door is almost good to go.

One of the issues we ran into was the work done by the previous shop on the door jam. It was bad enough that the bottom jam would even touch the door when it was closed. Not to mention the amount of bondo on it. Plenty of work went into straightening it out and getting lined up.

LOOKS VERY GOOD, having done this also to a 56, it's a tonnnnn of work and very satisfying when it's completed.

So we found an issue with the bedsides. Apparently the holes to mount the fenders don't line up. One side is 1/2" higher/lower than the other. I guess that's what I get for going aftermarket.
Question for you guys - can someone measure where you're fenders are so I know which holes are the correct ones? Thanks |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
That sucks about the fender holes being in different positions.
I could measure mine but I made my own bed. Kim |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Ahhhh. Looking good brotha! I've been following the build on Instagram.
Gonna have this ready for Turkey Rod run?? |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Not sure on Turkey Rod Run. It would be nice. Still need to figure out the measurements on the rear fender mounting holes. Not sure which side is correct. I'm thinking it's the lower holes but not sure.

So I ended up getting new front fenders. The driver side is taking shape. It fits a lot better than the other.

Here's a close up of the hood gap next to the cowl and the fender gap next to the hood. Looks spot on to me.

The fender is done for the most part so a fresh coat of primer was applied.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I think I see a .0005" larger gap toward the rear of fender.:metal: Someone had to pull your chain. Very nice work, looks great in the fresh primer...Jim
