Re: LT1 Burbs 65 Stock SW Build
So would you recommend buying those repop bedsides rather than dumping money into repairing the OE stuff?

From my vantage point here in Pa., That looks about as good as it can be. Fantastic work, and how many people can say they've done that much of there restorations themselves.

I have tried to put the time and effort into using the correct bolts and other little items. Here is the correct hood hinge bolt with the marking. Also the repop hood bumpers are not countersunk and so I had to redo them after cutting the rubber.

So this was a month ago when I started my rebuilt motor for the first time. No oil pressure and when I was breaking in the cam it started to knock, so out she came. I was really not impressed because everything was finished, painted and detailed. So I took it in to a buddy of mine and he blew it apart and found the moron who put it together the first time used .010 bearings on an .020 crank, so we installed a new crank and in it went. Luckily while trying to move it I found out I had no reverse, after doing some research I found that a common mistake is using a gasket on the rear pump powerglides, which blocks the reverse and hi gear ports, so I removed it while it was out.

So now I am back to my favorite thing, block sanding, luckily I found a near perfect tailgate that had original paint on it.
