Here are some photos that were sent to me by member Yeller_71 of his truck that spent its first 50 years in California. He installed a dummy filler neck on it to preserve its really nicely aged paint. Nice truck!

Patrick, thanks for a great product. Well designed . Good shipping and service.
I got a chance to install it before Christmas. I ordered it with the 67/70 grommet and I am glad I did. My 72 grommet is about 9 months old and in good shape so I tried it first. The neck on the 71/72 must be smaller diameter. Also not flat on the back like early version. Patrick's design counts on the flat back of the 67/70. Fit worked fine. Install is easy. The 72 grommet allows some flex but will not leak. The 67/70 grommet with its solid flat back is the way to go. Rock solid mounting and also will not leak. I am thinking the 72 might split over time because of the diameter miss match where the 67/70 is perfect. I could not get the smell of gas off the old cap and out of the cab so a new one plus some hardware is on the way from GMC Paul's Great job Patrick. I am very happy with it! |

Engineer ? Fabricator ? Therapist ? I think my truck sleeps better knowing there is a neck and cap where it belongs. I may need your help telling her she is getting a new tank under the bed.
Adding Top Gun Maverick to your list. " Don't think, just do ". I was done in less than 10 minutes and it looks great. |

Nice! Thanks for posting the photo. Cool truck. I think the rear fuel tank installation might take a little longer than it took to install the filler neck.

Here's a really cool idea from Glenn who bought one of my dummy filler necks recently and converted it into a kill switch that is activated by twisting the gas cap. Here's how he did it:
"The red cap comes off. I put a 10/24 nutsert on the cap, tapped an aluminum rod, screwed in and red lock tight a piece of all thread to the cap. Cross drilled the other end and inserted a 1/8” steel rod to turn the switch." |
