Re: '63 GMC Project
R u running porterbuilt on it
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
Not Porterbuilt but the same style system.
I still don't have the 20s on yet. I gotta change out my spindles and do some trimming in the front and get rid of the middle stake pocket in the back then HOPEFULLY they'll fit. Haven't been on in a while, been kind of a lousy summer for me, nothing major just lots of little crap. Can't complain to much with what other members are going through. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
How long did it take to get your wheels, & can you give me an idea of pricing? You can PM. I didn't notice anything on their website. Guess you have to contact them directly. I like these, but I also like the "Delmo specials" too.

Re: '63 GMC Project
What rear end did you chose

Apparently I can't tell you who's rear system I'm using even if I'm answering a question and not flat out advertising for them. That's whack. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
What size/width and backspacing on the 15's you were running?
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
I'm not sure what happened there I'm just trying to figure out how to easily swap a positrac rearend like chevell or camaro . Thanks for replying

Re: '63 GMC Project
Great build, even if you are using 'brand X' suspension  The mobsteels are gonna look great. Also, kudos on the faux Hotwheels- that's too cool!

Re: '63 GMC Project
Thanks
Nothing new with the 63 but I wrecked my daily S-10 2 months ago and the replacement truck I ordered came in this week. Just picked it up today... ...2014 Silverado LT http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91...ps1r0kcfdf.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91...psshfwdg98.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91...psf9riq0d2.jpg |

Can you tell me more about this, custom ordered or did you make it? Any pictures of you wheels mocked up on your truck? Thanks. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
I made the Hot Wheels replica from 2 '62 Chevys and a GMC panel truck. The card is just a photoshop job I did on my computer. Here's a thread about how I did it.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=509982 Here's the best pic of the one of the wheels during the test fit. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91...psycdesvob.jpg Here's a vid of me starting the truck and pulling it into my storage unit. I shot this to see what the new horn sounded like from a distance. http://s9.photobucket.com/user/88ast...7ce9a.mp4.html |

Thanks. Yeah I wanna drive it so badly right now.
I am going to use the centercaps I have for now but I may evenyually get some smoothie centers for them. |
Re: '63 GMC Project
Man your truck is amazing. Just read whole thread. Brand x looks like a great product I also like how the lca mounts. Would be nice to know the company. First time I've seen them block it like that. Wonder what the reason is. Which horn is that? I had a farmer buddy of mine give me a set of nathan air chimes they are crazy loud. One rule no kids and no grey hair for mine. I'd feel to bad if I killed someone with a horn

Re: '63 GMC Project
Good looking truck, my two kids heard it in the other room and came running and said "What was that!, it sounded COOOL!" Us three think its cool. Could I get some info on it and maybe a picture of it. Thanks.

Re: '63 GMC Project
I just started working on it last weekend. I got a set of CPP spindles that bring the wheels in .5" on each side and depending on the tire size I go with It might work. I'm waiting on an answer from CPP to see if their modular spindles will bring the wheels in any more or not.
|
Re: '63 GMC Project
I ended up getting a set of CPP's modular spindles and brake brackets to bring the wheels in another 5/16" per side. It looks like that might have done the trick. I got the suspension buttoned back up and the wheels installed and jacked both wheels up and they cleared my fenders without having to trim them any more. I still need to put it back on the ground and cycle the suspension but the airline I was using to fill the truck's air tank with sprung a bad leak so I couldn't put any air in the truck to get it off the jack stands.
Here's a teaser pic... http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a91...psexfwtayp.jpg |
Re: '63 GMC Project
The truck is now on the ground and it looks like everything clears OK. Now I just have to clean up my buddy's barn so I can get it out and test drive/shoot some pics.

Re: '63 GMC Project
I went with a 245/40/20. I was going to go with a 245/40/20 but decided to get a smaller diameter to try and dial in my speedo.

Re: '63 GMC Project
I meant to say "I was going to go 245/45/20". Derrrr!
