Now that is damn cool! Great job on the bed...I love how it retains the stock look but at the same time looks CRAZY modified!

I sold it to a guy for a rat rod. Your carb will have to be setup for blow thru. I bought a custom built billet aerosol from c&s specialties.

My truck already has a QFT 750 blow thru carb. Do you have a link to where you got the hat from? Do you plan on running a blow-off valve?

Yes I will be installing one before I change to the 10 rib pulley setup and turn up the boost.

Hey you did some nice work on that bed. Mine looked OK, when I did it. I just bolted 2 wheel tubs together, but I didn't finish the bed floor. Nice work. You ever go to SAR?

bustedknuckles 11-23-2011 11:42 AM

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

Thanks. Not sure what SAR is.

Well I cheaped out on the rear suspension for now. I moved the leafsprings inside the frame for now. Four link later.

mines a '69 shortstep narrowed 9" (narrowed 4" total) running 31x18.50 pro streets . i'm splitting the stepside fenders lengthwise 2" to fit the fatties inside. also it helps the bed look a bit "bigger" compared to the cab! lol
just dyno'd the 460 blown big block 568hp/575 torque @5700rpm.
5psi boost which puts me at a modest 11.2:1 compression . the dyno pulls can be seen on youtube ..

I think what he is saying is he is widening the outer fender.

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

yes the outer fenders will be two inches wider than stock kind of like a dually pickup fender but only 2" wider it will hardly be noticeable but thats what i need to fit the tires in the fenders.

Very nice!! I just put 31/16.5/15 under my '69 Fleetside & took 4 wheel tubs & made 2. I now wish I had waited till I found somebody to make my wheels & went with an 18.5 inch tire but my future plans are to fully tub it so it all will work out lol. Once again, very nice work!!!!

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

the bed looks very nice it shows there is alot of pride in that work!
my bed is going back in steel 1x4 tubing with a 1 inch gap between them,i'll fill the gaps with 1" pipe i'm having chromed. a sneeky way to get more weight over the rear.

race stars. greg weld did make them but when he died race star ind took them over. only thing is the back rim has smaller opening in between the stars than the front. here is a pic to show what im talking about. the back kinda looks like a weld pro star.

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

thanks for the comments, that makes all the long hours in the shop worth it. and jcpnofear a buddy of mine took a piece of 2'' tubing that fit inbetween his frame rails and filled it with lead. then welded it as far back as he could. and that thing hooks like crazy. just thought i would throw another idear at u.

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

sounds like a superfund clean up if he gets rearended! lol my bed will weigh in at about 160# over a stock shortbed stepside bed. plus i'm relocating the gas tank to the rear also. i'll send along some pics once i'm farther along with the bed.

mainly for track, but gonna cruise every now and then.

i think im gonna keep it primer gray for now, (repaint bed so it match cab/front end).

paint basically my last priority

Re: Pro Street Trucks/Cars pics!!! im in love with the fatty tires!!

its going to be a toyota color magnetic grey 1G3 CODE, its mostly gonna be a street monster. hot rod power tour/cruisin the coast /turkey rod run etc.
we race in sopchoppy ,fl. on "the road to nowhere". its a 4 mile paved straight stretch of road cut through the national forest which had a bridge planned to go over apalachicola bay once the road was finished the state scrubbed the costly bridge part of the project so we are left with a two lane paved road with no intersections, no houses or driveways. its the place to go in that neck of the woods lol
