Re: Bubba's recycling project
{Bubba could you post a picture of your voltage regulor? My batt went dead I put in a new alt and reg. I'm not sure about how the reg plugs in. It has a main 4 way plug but then i was looking under it and I see another single plug? When I gor hit it wreaked all that stuff so I don't know how it goes back together. I've been charging my batt. about once a week.} quote from Daverod
Sorry Dave, I pulled my voltage regulator and external regulated alternator off and went with a 63 amp internally regulated style when I rewired the headlights and added headlight relays . Mine is a one wire style now.... I think it is an SI style ,It has better voltage output and easier to wire in... The guys that hang out in the Electrical section were a great help and there are also some stickies in the FAQ. Good luck, Bubba |

Re: Bubba's recycling project
That's OK, Kyle I have worked night shift before and remember what it is like to awake at the "wrong hours" of the day.
Truck up-date - still going down the road with no issues. I would like to improve the brakes before school starts up again. Change over to the hydro-boost, I was thinking about making a pick-a-part run this afternoon. At least I would have the parts here but not the time to install them yet. Western Idaho State Fair starts for us on Thursday and 4-H/ FFA livestock events will keep us busy for the next 10 days.:randy: My youngest daughter will get her drivers permit this fall.. She and I were running errands in the neighboring town last night, when she spotted a yellow 69 C-10 in a used car lot and we went and checked it out! It had a 16K price tag and a 454 but was really fun to drive!! The tires smoked really easy!! almost too easy:lol: Way too much truck for a teenager driver but at least she is getting the idea that classic trucks are the way to go!!! |
Re: Bubba's recycling project
Have a little faith Dad, I'm sure she will keep her foot out of it!

Re: Bubba's recycling project
i hope you didnt think i would keep my foot out of it, then again im she is a safer driver than i haha

Attachment 795277Removed the old vacuum booster and went shopping at the pick-a part. Found 5 or 6 Astro vans but went with a 94 with pretty low miles and fairly clean. The cylinder was tight and did not spin so it looked like pretty good choice.
Attachment 795278 the Astro hydro boost bolted right up to the bracket I bought from Captainfab for the vacuum booster. Attachment 795279 I grabbed the metric O-ring hoses off the Astro. I cut them apart and then had NAPA crimp on some fittings that have 3/8" compression style connections which made installation a easy thing. Attachment 795280 I bled the brakes and the power steering and went test driving. Pretty nice brakes now. Maybe a little too soft and touchy . Might have to drive it for a while and get used to it and see if it will work. |

After approx 100 miles test drive , the brakes have passed the test . No leaks!!!!! They are quite easy to push and stops things right now on a dime.
A little nose diving in the front with a hard panic stop but no lockup or skidding of the tires. We decided that it will stay as is for a while. Daughter's senior pictures are happening this weekend and the truck just HAS to be in them. Attachment 797427 Playing farm truck The truck pulls it around the yard okay but needs bigger springs or overloads Craig, I never knew that you had a eye for hogs . You win a cold beverage for knowing that was a gilt in the picture!! Youngest daughter is shown with a "Bluebutt" a Yorkshire X Hampshire crossbreed. She also raised pure Hampshires and Hampshire X Duroc crossbreeds She had several return buyers this fall and had to buy more piglets earlier this spring to have enough for her customers orders! Quite a profitable summer business she has going on. The prop valve is from the 71-72 that donated the front cross member. I kinda liked it since it has a separate discharge line to each front caliper and a single line to the rear drums. |

We love the Broncos and the success that they have gained , But..... it is just a game played by boys that do not shave on a regular basis yet.. kinda a shame SO much money is involved BSU campus is only 30-40 miles away, And it is our Home team since we have no pro teams here in the state, I graduated from BSU back in the day |

Re: Bubba's recycling project
I thought that hog had a little yorkshire in it, I've always said a good pig is a dead pig! I really dont have anything against pigs thats just the chip one has on his shoulder after growing up on a farm with 500 head of hogs at all times.
Tell her that she raises a nice hog. Craig |
Re: Bubba's recycling project
apparently i havnt been watching close enough. cant believe you already have the truck on the road, wish i could say the same about mine. it looks good

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Hey Bubba, next sat. Is the fall swap meet, are you going to make it? Kyle and I will be there looking for parts, Kyle also might run his truck at the test and tune, I'm trying to talk him out of that one due to the fact That the next sun. Is the final high school drag race and the way our luck has gone this year I don't think we should press our luck.
Hope to see you there. Craig |
Re: Bubba's recycling project
It kinda snuck up on me this year!! I haven't missed the swap meet for a few years now, but then I just missed the show at Payette last weekend!!!
Forgot all about it... I might have to run my daughter to Utah to check out a College open campus this weekend. It will depend if my wife's schedule changes , Then I will go with daughter on a road trip. Hope you find some treasures!!! Bubba |
Re: Bubba's recycling project

Today is the day for the new front window!!
Attachment 804497 Window guy was pretty excited to work on a classic!! Attachment 804498 Not as much rust as I had expected!!! Attachment 804500 What a difference!!! The old window had a crack right in the area where you looked at oncoming traffic. This is really nice to have that gone. We installed a new gasket and went with out the chrome trim. I cannot really notice the difference and the glass shops I had talked with all said that seating the old chrome in the new gaskets was a royal PIA and new imported cheap chrome was not all that good to begin with. I am now looking at wipers . I bought new LMC arms and blades last year, Has anybody found any better ideas for wipers ?? They were only marginal at best in a rainstorm. |
Re: Bubba's recycling project
Must be nice to have fridays off so you can mess with your truck. No ideas on the wippers. I put mine up when it get wet out. ;)

I wish I had a suggestion, but I don't have any right now. I tried to buy some last year and they were back ordered or not available for some weird reason. I never followed up.

Re: Bubba's recycling project
Passed on the 5 window. It was a long bed 3/4 ton guy wanted 1200 I offered 800. He said he would do 1000 I said meet ya at 900 he said no and I left. It was a repaint, painted grill ,very little rust. Figured I would put the cash in my truck instead.:smoke: How long does it take to kill a elk anyways?

Awwww Dave I thought that five window was my birthday present... Well I did turn 50 years old last week.
Attachment 815417It is elk season in Idaho so we toughed it out for a couple of weeks and went to the woods to go Elk, Deer and Wolf hunting .. The first thing to be killed was a lime and Coronas while setting up the Flat screen TV and the dish. Note the camo on the Beer bottle . It works better for Him . I just lose my beer if it is camoed Attachment 815422 We HAD to watch the Boise State Broncos games, And several other games too... We had several generators and a satellite dish, 5 four wheelers and Enough RVs to be really comfortable and dry. Attachment 815424 Dave I found fresh mountain maiden tracks in the snow.... No Wolfies showed up, We did see a black/grizzly crossbred bear but we never thought to take a picture , we were just kinda shocked and trying to figure out what it was and then it was gone . Fish and Game guy said they are out there and really not uncommon , But then F & G have denied that grizzlies are even in this side of the state for years now. |
Re: Bubba's recycling project
Happy bday!!! The 5 window was a 3/4 ton long bed with a repaint. Pretty good shape but I just was'nt feeling the love. Turned it down over a bill. Kinda glad now I have more $$ for my truck. Did'nt know about the black grizz thing weird.
