Re: Daverods 52

Re: Daverods 52
Dave,
I took the column to a buddy's and turned it on his lathe. I was going to take it to an muffler shop, but it was on a Sunday and nobody was open. Thank goodness friends can't close. As a last resort, you could probably go very carefully with a die grinder. It's kinda hilbilly, but far within the scope of, "something I'd do". As for joints:smoke:, I used the universal joint from a c10 van. I remember it being cheap, but can't remember how much. I think I spent like $40 bucks on the whole steering solution. Hope that helped, Jeff |

Re: Daverods 52
Hey on your a-arm header issue, a set of speedway tubular arms would clear.. they are ~45 dollars an arm

Put my bearing in the column. Hooked up my steering. I just put 4 slits the column tube, put the bearing in and welded it up.:ito:

While you are in Yuma this winter, get some Mexican wool blankets. They work really well.:ito:

Re: Daverods 52
What kind of bike would you want to buy when your rich?
|
Re: Daverods 52
Well if I was $$$$$ I would get a HD. But I guess I really just want to be like you. I think a somthing like a 2003? Road Star is going to be more realistic. Someting along those prices, I want somting I can ride on long trips. I need to make some easy $$$ first. What happened to all the easy money anyways?:smoke:

Just looking thru youre thread and noticed some of my pics. For my set up i'm not using the stock gas tank and will be installing bump stops from the frame to the axle, so no worries about bags compressing to much or clearance issues. The reason i but my bags under the frame was to gain tire clearance with 20x10 on back.;) |

Re: Daverods 52
Ran out of money. So I'm doing body work on my 66. I already had the filler and paint. Plus I've been busy making more money. Its a vicious cycle. Ok I've been slackin also.

Re: Daverods 52
Found out my 700r4 was a piece of crap. It's the kind with the small output shaft. Good thing it was only a bill. Think I'll just buy a new rebuilt one. Got a killer deal on some license plates. Picked up enough to do the whole inside of my cab. Hit the money tree with some grow lights. Should be kicking out some bills soon.:metal:

Re: Daverods 52
You need to hurry up and get to work. I should be posting up pics soon of what all I got.
