Sipp Electric made some of these and it could have been for most anything. they used these to run home appliances like butter churns, sewing machines, washers and the like. Home automation back in the late 1800's early 1900's. Your looks to have a generator on it so I'd say it was a small power station to power up some house lights

nope......wrong manufacturer and purpose, does not generate electricity....the last pic appears to have a electric motor on it to turn moving parts for demonstration purposes......here's some different pics same make, model, different machine without the electric motor.

That is really cool. It's an engine for a popcorn machine, otherwise known as a Popcorn Engine. Possibly made by Dunbar???

Yep, that's the one..... a popcorn engine is a miniature steam engine that was used to turn the popcorn popper in some American popcorn carts and wagons in the late-19th and early-20th centuries.

not auto related. It aligns something and allows you to attach and reattach it in the same exact place

nope. Its specialized tool for a very specialized profession. Its used in the very beginning of making a product or when you have to change direction of the process

dwcsr 10-19-2011 08:12 PM

Re: Lets Play Whatz It? !!

The product this tool helps make is almost always thought of as coming out of the ground in the finished condition you see at the store but in reality it looks nothing like the finished product when in the ground. A lot of times its heat treated to look the way it does when finished.

The picture may be a little misleading because part of the product is actually in the tool

tool to set the first grind of gem stones, maybe for diamonds?

dwcsr 10-20-2011 02:01 AM

Re: Lets Play Whatz It? !!

Yes, Its called a Dop jig. Its used to secure a rough gem on a Dop via thick brown shellac then placed in a gem faceter hand piece. When you finish cutting the bottom its allows you to precisely align it and flip it over so you can cut the top. The 2 rods with threads on them are dops and the top one has a piece of preformed Amethyst thats ready to flip

Re: Lets Play Whatz It? !!

This one is not truck related but every one of you guys has something made by this little tool.
Good luck!

I am impressed that you got that close first guess. Technically your answer is wrong but I am going to give it to you anyway because there are so many different attachments for the business end of a sewing machine that we could go back and forth for a while.

It is actually the CNC embroidery foot for making different designs and text.
And no it's not my wife's machine:lol:

Re: Lets Play Whatz It? !!

i guessed by the wrap around look and wear areas ,with the foot too
