Re: My 57 Pro Street
"took a chance" dude your like macgyver doing fab work. That bed is one of my favorite parts of this forum. I cant wait to see what you come up with "using only a coat hanger, a scrap piece of 3/4 and an emergency brake cable, he creates an exhaust cut out" Seriously you have skills and its awesome how you make it work.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
excellent work again -always a pleasure to see great skills and workmanship .

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...0&d=1319769101 Forgot you were talking about the tilt/dump bed. I changed my mind on that idea. Money and more cutting, welding & fabricating;) I'm going to have a small fortune tied up in the bed as it is. I can't remember.... were you gonna add a fuel cell in the back like mine? If so filling up with gas want be to bad with the tilt. How far back are you gonna set it back? The tilt that is. https://by1.storage.live.com/items/9...4/IMAG1478.jpg http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/...ro_Street2.jpg |

Here's a pic of the inside where my frame is attached to the narrowed section. The left portion with the wood on it is the original frame. I wish I could tell you how it was done but I had a guy with a lot more experience than I had at the time do it. I did add some gussets but they were more for looks than anything else. Hope this helps. Kim |

I am going to run a fuel cell on the rear of the frame. It should sit on top of the lower section of the frame. I took some measurements and I should be able to run a 16 to 20 gallon tank. Here's a pic of where the tilt will pivot with the bed attached. The hole in the frame is where it pivots. It's pretty far back. Kim |

Sounds good. Yep that's what i am using 20gallon. Very good fab work. Alot of guys don't realize the cost in material during fabrication. Especially welding. http://www.nwsco.com/ Can't wait to see it done. She's gonna be One Bad Mamma Jamma! |

A little more progress on the truck.
I had to mount my front bumper. These first few pics show how they came from the factory. I think it sticks out a little to far so I'm going to change that. |

So on with the changes.
I had to make some new brackets so I made some templates out of cardboard. transferred the design to some 3/16 plate and went to work with my angle grinder. After a little refinement this is what we get. |

Drill a few holes and test fit them to the frame. On a side note I did have to modify my frame horns again.
A little welding and we're almost there. |

And this is what you get.
The first pic is the original. The next pics are what you get when you flip the bumper. Please excuse the jack. As soon as my tires hit the ground I can't get it out (this will be corrected). It draws it into the truck and IMHO looks better for what I'm doing. I will be shortening the ends so they don't intrude on the wheel openings. Kim |

B**chin, looks great....Jim. Is the F**d yours to, or a job????

The F**d is my brothers. He doesn't have enough room at his place so the body is here while we get the frame together at his place. Kim |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Nice job Kim, are you doing some mod to you head bucket also?

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Are you going to narrow or profile the bumper at the ends to keep the same gap as it turns the corner?

I am changing the headlight buckets. I filled in the area that gets covered by the original bezel under the eyebrow. I just haven't found what I'm going to use yet. Quote:

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Love the " jackstands " that are holding your bumper.

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Nice work, it does look much better closer to the body!

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Nice going! I'm going make brackets for my bumper that weld on just to clean up the bumper, I will probably leave it the original way. If I ever get to my bumper.. Thanks for the idea

Re: My 57 Pro Street
So I have been looking at your build thread and you have mad fabrication skills...

Looks great so far. I would be going nuts if i did all the mods you are doing. I am a "blow and go" kind of guy with no patience.
Thanks for the bumper mod, i will do something similar for mine without welding brackets to the bumper. The bumper bolts let mine look semi original. Thanks for sharing your ideas. |

Re: My 57 Pro Street
Wow man, I just spent the better part of the day (on and off) reading your whole thread. I love the bed, it had to take lots of guts to even attempt this and it came out killer!!!! The sectioning of the hood took huge balls too!!!!! I dig the firewall and straight dash as well. Awesome creativity and imagination! I feel like I need to step up my game now ;~)

Looking great Kim!
Man I hear ya about the money thing, these are what I have to build for other people so I can have truck money, but these take me about 4 months to build so thats what I do with time in between the money problem. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
Beautiful models. If I built those, I dont know if I would build a truck.
Is that a kitchen/workshop combo. I think that I am going to do that. When my wife goes out, I will move all my shop stuff into the kitchen. Maybe she will get the hint to stay out of my garage. |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
longbike
Those are very cool models. Kim |
Re: My 57 Pro Street
wow!
I would think those models take more patience then our truck builds... nice work |
