It would look a little more "street rod" if it was lowered a little but it looks really good as is!

Oh yeah! The motor is still being promised, and nothing is happening, makes me mad. Always wanted those rallys, can't wait to put some new shoes on em!

Hey, so what is really going on with this engine of yours, if it was me I would have gone elsewhere. Have you thought about this? Because you have to be getting frustrated by now. Sorry if it is causing trouble for you.

I really have not needed the motor until now, so it didn't matter. Now I am getting to the point where it would help me to have it for wiring and clearance issues. I still have not installed my steering column so it isn't a necessity. I gave him my 283 on March 4th and we could not find the correct pistons for it, so he gave me a 327, so I really can't complain. He will have it for me soon and that's fine, but it is still frustrating to have waited almost a year.:cuss: But he gaurantees his work and will come to the shop and help get it tuned all for around $1600.....so that isn't bad.

your truck is sweet man coming along real nice. what do you have to the bottom of your gas tank? i got mine cheap and got 8" to the bottom of the tank at the back but im just afraid of hitting it coming down a sloped drive.

I'm by no means a suspension expert but if you consider your plans to shim the UCA out on the rear stud you do in fact push the wheel forward in the fender but you also create an issue in that now the top ball joint is ahead of the lower and that I believe could cause steering issues. Not only is there caster,camber, and toe in there is another factor called ackerman I cannot explain that but I have had it explained to me and Im thinking by creating two different axis on the UCA and LCR pivot points you may have issues. In looking at mods to center the wheel in the opening I cant help but think moving the complete suspension forward is the best way to accomplish this. I have seen cut and modified CA's but aint no way I'd do it. So Im considering the crossmember relocation as the best way to accomplish the goal. I know that Nate,(Porterbilt) is a busy guy but I would value his input to this situation anyone that can design and build the dropmember with the expertise he has I would think he definitely understands steering geometry. Anyway not to throw cold water on your plans I would sure do some diligent research into this, you have built one of the cleanest rigs on this forum and it would be a shame to create a situation that could possibly prove disastrous you can always build another truck if it gets damaged but you cant restore or replace your body!

Thanks for the compliment, feels good to hear that! Being that my truck is bagged I will set the ride height to accomodate for daily driving issues like this, but then again it is just a weekend cruiser so I am cutting my percentage of chances dramatically of damaging the sump at the rear. Airred out I still have over 5 inches of clearance when it's up I will have 8 to 10 like yourself! Another thing that will keep me in check is that my tires are 10 inches wide and I don't want them to rub by driving while airred out.

Hey Suville, I read alot of your comments on other threads and value your thoughts and opinions and of course open to everyones. After reading several forums and looking through this site it seems to be a "quick fix" but also seems to work and be safe. I shimmed the uca forward about .5 of an inch and in trying to keep the geometry correct I moved the lca forward about .5 of an inch, so the goemetry changed, but ever so slightly from the ackerman stand point. It was explained to me like looking at a wheel on a shopping cart, or, the reverse of a motorcycles front fork rake. You can bet I will take it easy before any road time really happens just to monitor the action/reaction of the uca's and lca's and all attached especially since my truck is bagged. I hope at a later date I will be contacting Porterbuilt to order a front end and not just for asking advise! (when my money is right) He is very knowledgable, and you as well! Keep up the great questions and answers, it makes us all think!!!:metal: Question......if I move the cab back toward the bed, maybe .25 of an inch, will that effect anything like the core support alignment or fender alignment or will they move back a little too? If this is a non-issue then that will get my front wheel closer to the center of the wheel opening also.

if you move the cab back, wouldnt you have to move all the mounts? including the front core support mounts, which holds the grille which bolts to the fenders?

i didnt get a chance to run outside and check my truck to make sure because its ugly ass hell outside and wont stop raining (been off all week and no progress lol)..but i think if you move the cab back, everything has to move. maybe someone can verify that..

It is true, but if you only move it back .25 of an inch then it should not effect anything. The cab mounts have enough play in them and the core support to move everthing back that much without doing anything else (like steering column adjustment). I have had to move my cab forward and backwards while installing and removing my bed at least 7 times in the past couple of months and really do not see any problem with it. Then again, it is only a quarter of an inch or so.

Update: I took my engine cradle to the machine shop today, you know that means it is almost time to get the elusive engine back. It has only been 11 months and 12 days, should have it back Saturday!!! :metal: Now for the pics, this will have to suffice until I post this weekend.

I traded out the Blazer seats for a set of 88 to 91 buckets, they actually are in great shape just a little dirty. The Blazer seats had a little more rust on them than I wanted to contend with. Also have the bodyman coming this weekend to finish up my rockers and breather cover and a couple of odds and ends. I am getting more excited about the engine too!:uhmk:

A little bit accomplished this weekend, wish it was more, here goes.

What's this??? My 327! It is not quite finished but getting those heads was worth the wait. He has paint on it so that was a good indication that it will be done soon. My bodyman talked me into painting it the color of the truck.

Had a couple more pics to share. We started fixing the paint on both rockers and cab corner (no comment). Almost ready for paint.

Hahaha sounds great!!! Can't wait!! Chris, my engine builder, said it's good for 360+ HP since I got these camelhump heads. I will have to dyno it later and give some real world figures but sounds like a healthy 8 pack to me. We have snow in the forecast for tomorrow, that will be the 3rd snow this year which hasn't happened since 73' so I suppose we are the land of slush!!:lol:

I bought a couple of things from a guy on CL and he had a bagged and bodied 08 Tahoe with the same emblems in the same place.......dang good idea already used.

I just purchased a chrome glove box door and I am painting it krinkle black on the front then installing another script emblem in the center of it to match the outside emblems and valve covers. I really like them too!

Great minds think alike. I purchased a chrome glovebox door months ago to do just that to match the gauge bezel look. Since then I've decided to go more custom on the dash but still hadn't ruled out something with that effect....
